An elegant and beautiful Derby porcelain figure of "Flora," from the "Antique Seasons" set. Flora (or Spring)stands on a tall plinth, is wearing a diadem of flowers, has gathered her robe in her left hand, and is offering a wreath with her right. The Antique Seasons set was made in 1771, and each has the model number "5" incised in the base. It is described in Peter Bradshaw's book "Derby Porcelain Figures 1750-1848" as being exceedingly rare...

Chinese Nyonya Ware plate with a foliated base painted with pomegranates, peaches and bats symbolizing fruitfulness, prosperity and happiness. Nyonya wares are over-glaze polychrome enamelled porcelains made in Jingdezhen in the Kiangsi province of China for the Straits Chinese, or Babas, whose female counterparts are called Nyonyas, hence the term Nonya ware. A Blue Staffordshire Milk or Water Pitcher with Acanthus Scrolled Loop Handle and Oriental Design. Dimensions; 9" high x 5.5" wide, to handle. Circa 1880-1890 and in excellent condition.

This finely carved shell skull was found by the famous Dr. Allen Heflin on 9-16-61 in Cuautitlan, Mexico. This Aztec piece dates to 1200AD. It is drilled for suspension. A nice little ancient piece that could be used in jewelry. It is 1/2" long and solid.

This is an Early 19th Century excellently carved netsuke depicting a Herdboy standing with a whip in his hand, right next to his oxen that is heavily loaded with rice bails. Very nice detail and excellent golden-yellow patina. Unsigned. Netsuke measures 0.94 inches (2.4cm) wide, 1.46 inches (3.7cm) long, and 1.28 inches (3.2cm) tall. Netsuke has an age hairline, but, it is otherwise in excellent condition, as may be seen in the posted photos.

Pair of beautiful small porcelain plates decorated with scrolling vines and blue flowers. Details in blue, light green, red and gold. 6 character marks on the bottom state that the dishes are from the reign of Guangxu (1875-1908). Qing Dynasty mark and period. Size of each: 5 3/8" wide diameter.

This is a mid 19th century or earlier 7" Nabeshima shallow footed bowl decorated with a blue landscape against a celadon sky. A similar example is illustrated in The Study of the Nabeshima House's Ceramic Ware Factory and Its Products, Plate 10.

An antique Japanese merchant chest called Choba Tsukue made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Two drawers used for the storage of an inkstone and brushes as well as paper for writing transaction records and receipts. The drawer interiors have minor ink stains which is a testament to its usage and function.

A beautiful set of four deep cobalt blue glass water goblets. The large ogee bowls have wide fluting and sit atop a bladed knop on a plain stem.

The glasses are 5 5/8" tall, with a bowl diameter of 4 3/8, and a foot diameter of 3 1/2". Polished pontil. Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, or restoration.

Japanese tenmoku ware ceramic vessel with ribbed handle, short front spout, and wide open top. The thick oil slick glaze stops just short above the foot left in buff. Tenmoku glaze is made with feldspar, limestone, and iron oxide. The more quickly a piece is cooled, the blacker the glaze will be. Tenmokus are known for their variability. This very slightly flaring turned huang huali wood brush pot has a well-figured grain and a honey brown tone. The interior has blackened with age and use. Truly beautiful Japanese antique small earthenware jar from the Shigaraki kiln. Made from the red clay of Lake Biwa, this jar is covered with a thick mineral glaze which has dripped and pooled. It has a lip which has been dimpled for pouring and a wonderful indented area that has been blackened in the firing process. The ash glaze on the lip and on the inside is a lovely green color. DESCRIPTION: A lovely white jade toggle (or pendant) with scattered light brown to grayish inclusions, strung with an orange amber bead on a cord. This toggle dates from the Qing Dynasty and is in very good condition; the jade surface is quite smooth to the touch and there are no chips to the jade or amber bead.
