Chinese Ming Dynasty (or older) stone head of a Buddha, mounted. The size is 44 cm in height (including stand) and the weight is 16,5 kg.
Well-carved with the face in a pleasant expression with beautiful lips and almond-shaped eyes, flanked by elongated earlobes and his hair in a four leaf style, which is extremely rare. We never have seen that type of hair on the antique market before.
It is part of our family collection for more than 100 years...

An absolutely stunning Edo period (1700s) Kuro Oribe Chawan covered in thick, ink-black crackle glaze and some fine cream colour with symbolic decoration.
It has an unidentified kiln mark.
The slightly irregular kutsu-gata form settles easily into the palm of the hand, with the built up rim resting lightly on the fingers. A high quality Japanese wood box is part of the offer.
No chips or repairs. Only natural inborn kiln cracks...

Cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) tea bowl made of light, fine, unrefined Mino clay. The style of the foot lets it appear contemporary with the late Oribe bowls. But the shape of the expertly thrown body, the orange skin effect on the typical Shino glaze with beautiful orange 'fire colour' recalls the days of the single chamber kilns, but the glaze and the somewhat irregular foot is typical for the late production of the 1620's at the Motoyashiki and Kamagane kilns...

A fine pair of large fan shaped sweetmeat dishes decorated with a design of vase or censer flanked by a pair of square suiban on a veranda containing arrangements of Cherry, Camelia, Chrysanthemums and Pinkes.
The dishes are strikingly similar in form and decoration to some examples in the Dresden collection with inventory marks indicating that they were acquired before 1721. See Reichel “Altjapanisches Porzellan” illustration no 60 “Konfektschalen”, and the notes thereto at page 151...

A rare sake-daru (Sake Keg) made of piled woven bamboo in combination with Japanese red lacquered pine. This tsuno-daru has two horn-like staves with inscriptions, a cross piece forming a carrying handle, and a wooden plug that pulls out. This saki barrel dates pre 1920. Sake casks such as this were prepared by sake factories to be used for special ceremonial occasions in the late 19th to the early 20th centuries. In excellent condition, it measures 21” tall and 7” in diameter.
