Rarely do you find a pair of early 1800's Anglo Irish cut crystal decanters complete with their original stoppers. They are in excellent condition for their age with just a few small chips. Tenuki is depicted standing, his head covered by his huge scrotum. It is carved in a wood that seems to me to be cherry. The sculpture is simple and vigorous. The netsuké is ideally compact in shape. A cup and deep saucer in the bamboo pattern with an early printed Spode mark on the cup. The transfer design was applied over glaze by the “pluck and dust” method of transferring color followed by hand painting of the gilding. The color is referred to in the Spode literature as, “chestnut brown,” though this one has a reddish tint. Saucer 5 ½ inches diameter, cup 2 inches tall.

Early 19th century ebony netsuke of a shishi (Buddhist lion) sitting foursquare on a base, its head turned to the right. Like any dark object does not photograph well. Wonderful netsuke carved with confidence and great detail - see its alert face, bushy tail, well defined ribs and paws. Wonderful sense of volume, beautiful lustre unique to ebony. Height 1 5/16 inches.

An oval English porcelain sugar bowl with the lid and body decorated with blue and magenta bell flowers growing out of gilt plants. The flowers circle both the lid and the body, which has molded ring handles (not working) at the end of the long sides. The knop on the lid is elaborately gilt. 19th Century Japanese Kutani Porcelain Covered Jar with Mountain Scene

It is 14.4 inches (36.5 cm) tall by 10 inches (25.4 cm) wide. It is 12.4 Lb.

It has been repaired (glued back) at a section of the lid. It also has manufacture chips, small indent holes at the body, uneven glazes, and skip glazes, rubbing of paint, dark spots, firing cracks at the inside, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

A fine lot of two large Hamsa birds, Shan Empire and Arakan, Burma around 1780-1820 AD.

The Hamsas with one spike, standing on hexagonal bases, different styles of heads/beaks and both V-tails. One is probably early Arakan style and lower weight-standard.
