Exquisite pair of lacquered wood temple lotus offering stands in lotus motif. The Lotus is the penultimate buddhist symbal of purity. The base is a lotus with lotus flowers on the stem and lotus cup at the top. Minor lacquer wear but in fabulous condition for its Meiji Period C.1890 age. 12" tall and 6" wide.

The base fabric is a coarse weave (maybe linen) with a decorative weft. Both ends with two-faced embroidery in gold-wrapped thread in Turkish baroque style. Condition: fine, only little patina. Dimension without fringes: 113 cm x 49 cm.

Each keman is fan-shaped (or perhaps boar's eye-shaped) with a design of two pairs of double chrysanthemum family crests set between karakusa (winding weeds) in openwork. This jade (nephrite) carving of a reclining water buffalo and boy is 2 ¼” high, 3” wide and 2 3/8” thick. It is a late 19th century product. It depicts a young boy holding peach branches trying to climb a reclining water buffalo. Aside from some natural blemishes on the bottom, it is in great condition.

A very well-cut low bowl in an unidentified pattern. The cutting is deep, sharp and precise. The pattern comprises three panels of star- and diamond-cut cane, divided by elongated loops enclosing flashed fans and strawberry diamond, alternating with hobstars. The blank is heavy and very clear.

Lavender and aquamarine coat the surface of this vase from the Kairakuen Kilns of the Ki branch of the Tokugawa family dating from the 19th century.
