This marked Tong Zhi Period (1862~1874) Famille-Rose ribbed rice bowl is 2 ¼ inches tall and 4 ¾ inches in diameter. It depicts two boys from good families playing in a garden. One is feeding a bird; the other is watching two flying bats. The bird, magpie and bat represent good luck in Chinese custom. The workmanship is precise and refined. It is in great condition.

Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Qingbai Glazed Porcelain Covered Jar
This attractive small covered jar was made during the 13th / 14th Century (Song / Yuan Dynasty). It is coated inside and out in a pale greenish Qingbai glaze that is finely crackled in places. The dome-shaped cover has a carved pattern to give it the appearance of a tiled roof; this jar represents a granary. To the inner surface are the remains of ancient plant/root growths from its long burial.

This is a qingpai ewer or jug from the Song Dynasty. The qingapi ewer is of sea greenish hue. It stands on a recess 2 tier base with a curving body of a baluster or bulbous shape extending towards a flatten shoulder and then a mildy everted neck and mouth. The body is also lightly incised with some form of design. This is a shipwreck item.

A beautifully modeled white ware spouted ewer complete with original top. Elegant and intact, this piece measures 9-1/2" in height, with the top in place. The color is difficult to capture accurately, as there is the faintest hint of pale celadon color in the glaze. No repairs or restoration, no flaking of the glaze. A beautiful example of this early ware.
Early 19th century boxwood netsuke of a man carrying a cloth bundle on its back with a boy’s head sticking out of it, while a huge dragonfly landed on the father’s sleeve. Wood is lacquered in Negoro style - red lacquer over black, so as it wears the black starts showing, and then the wood. The fronts of his feet have been reattached, repair is done very well, the figure stands on its own. Excellent faces, beautifully worn, really nice feel of age to the piece. Height 2 3/16 inches.

An ancient Chinese Han Dynasty earthenware cocoon jar circa 206 BC-220 AD, with traces of original hand painted design motif. Cocoon jars a name derived for its the resemblance with the shape of a silk worm cocoon. They were originally used as wine storage vessels. This small jar was made during the 13th - 14th century, during the latter part of the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), or the following Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368). Itis often referred to as a "rice measure", and takes its form from basket ware of the period. It has nail-head decoration around the shoulder and is coated, inside and out, in a variagated brown glaze. It is rare to find such an item with its original lid.
