A rare ancient gold ring with a natural green stone that could be Fluorite from the Angkor Wat period. Weight: 9.66 grams.

Peacock in cast bronze and partially gilded shakudo in 2 shades of gold. Japanese work in the style of Miyao around 1900. No signature. Hardwood and boxwood plinth.Good condition, no welding and original patina. Very slight wear, insignificant for a century-old object. The body of the peacock is raven wing black which suggests that it is in shakudo which represented a significant additional cost, the shakudo alloy being obtained by adding gold to copper. Total height about 16cm.

Thick molten ash drivels over the shoulder of this fabulous 17th century Shigaraki Tsubo storage jar showing all the great attributes of Shigaraki ware. It has a large open ware (pronounced wa-ray) crack down the front, which does not go through to the inside, and the fire blasted front surface is shot with fine heat cracks. A large Kutsuki to the lower let shows where it adhered to something else in the kiln during the firing...

An 8.5" blue underglazed Imari bowl painted in gilt, orange and blue. The center medallion features a ship, fierce dragons prowl the inner and outer sides of this bowl.

Condition: Gold paint on the upper rim is worn. No chips, hairlines or repairs.

Offered is a fabulous, early 1900s, veterinary doctor sign, advertising the practice of a Dr A. A. Bennet. This 18 inch x 11 inch brass sign is a wonderful advertisement piece. The black painted lettering has been cut into the brass sign to give a two dimensional effect.

Veterinary signs of any type are quite scarce! Wonderful patina!

This is a lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1550-1300 BC?, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 3/8” long (10 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

A beautiful Bow shallow bowl painted in the famille rose manner with rockwork, bamboo, flowers and foliage. Purchased over 15 years ago and retaining the label of Mercury Antiques, a well-known and respected London porcelain dealer.

Superb condition with bright paint and no chips, cracks, restoration, or paint loss. The diameter is 7 7/8".

A properly dressed Chinese woman would wear a pair of leggings to cover her lower legs from the bottom of her skirt to the top of her lotus shoes. The leggings would be tied into place with a hand woven sash made specifically for that purpose. These lotus shoe accessories are now rare and very hard to find. See my listing TC236 and ZTC233. This pair of leggings are purple satin weave fabric with ribbon and silk embroidered trim at the cuffs. There is some ares of fade on the basic fabric.

Antique Chinese pair of ornately carved gilt wood panels. Each panel is a mirror of the other and depicts a scholarly display of flowers in an elaborately carved vase. Among the flowers are lotus, peonies, berry stalks and blossoming fruit branches. Attracted to the berries, are a pair of kingfishers. Each vase stands on a multi tiered display with scrolls in boxes and upright containers surrounded by bats and kylin (qilin). Later backed with dark purple glass.

Behind the doors are 7 drawers with 2 shelves for merchant books and records. The bottom shelf has a coin slot where coins were dropped into the drawer below. Charming Chinese antique pottery roof tile in the form of a nobleman on horseback, glazed in three colors, fitted with a hardwood stand, Ching Dynasty 19th century. Size with stand: 15 1/2" high x 10" long x 6" wide.

An oval and domed porcelain plaque with enamelled flowers in a gilt and Bleu Céleste framework. The ”heavenly blue” colour was a speciality for Sevres in the 18th century and revived in the 19th during the reign of Napoléon III. The gilt flower wreath is tooled, to show the texture of the little flower petals, and the large flower motif is excellently painted. Very rare early Ming Dynasty Hongzhi period ( 1488 - 1505 ) blue and white bowl with Tibetian Sanskrit inscriptions. There are also bowls of this type from the Ming Wanli period, but for Wanli the glaze of this rare bowl is too white, and so this bowl definately is from the Hongzhi or Chenghua period. A Chinese vanity box with three drawers and a mirror that slides out on the top when opened. The bottom of the vanity box contains a continuous scrolling motif often seen in Chinese designs. Age: 19th century. Size: Height: 7.25" Width: 11.3" Length: 8.5"

A long-necked original bronze vase with a rounded body. The top of the slender neck has a ring midway and swells out at the mouth in the shape of a garlic bulb, giving the vase its special name. It has a nice aging patina. It can be cleaned but I wouldn't recommend it.

This is a Qing Dynasty copper coin which reads as Xiangfeng (1851-1861) Zhong Bao. On the reverse it reads as represent ten, which means represent ten cash coin. The coin has soil calicification as shown in light brown as shown in the pgootographs. Generally the coin is in good condition. The diameter of the Xiangfeng Zhong Bao ten cash coin is 3.9cm.
