Superbly detailed and rather substantial vessel, made as a grinning man with his tungue between his teeth and wearing larger earrings and headdress, the spout of the vessel prodruding from the top of his head. Rather scarce piece!

Antique Japanese kogo box (for incense). Round in form and made of lacquered wood. Decorated with a scene of a garden gate and a wild thicket of grasses, vines and flowers under a full moon. The gate and flora are made with maki-e lacquer and shell inlay while the full moon is made of silver. The interior and bottom of the box is covered with gold nishiji on a black lacquer ground.

This is an old traditional style top shirt which would have been worn by a young girl of the Yi Chinese ethnic minority from Yunnan Province. the fabric is made from home grown cotton, hand spun, and hand woven. The collar surround and cuffs are trimmed with an intricate batik pattern and the tiniest embroidery stitched I have ever seen. The shirt has its original buttons. Good size for framing 14 inches across the chest.
Chinese Huanghuali altar table, its front and side aprons carved with dragons and fireballs. The side panels between the table's legs are carved with reticulated motifs of scrolls and dragons. The table's surface woodgrain shows many distinct "ghost eyes" associated with Huanghuali wood.

A one of a kind huge bronze lotus temple basin with a dragon wrapped around the base and coming over the top as a water fountain. The base has bronze shishi in relief. C.1880. A set of five Victorian cranberry glass fingerbowls of compressed form with waisted rim. Raised on a tapered foot with polished pontil. Condition is good - varying slightly from bowl to bowl. No cracks or abrasions. Rim diameter 4 7/8 in. About 5 1/2 diameter at the broadest point. Foot diameter about 2 3/4 in.
This Chinese pinafore style garment would have been worn by a small girl child of the Dong ethnic minority in Shui Kou. Fabric is handwoven from cotton fiber, hand stitched with intricate decorative applique work and hand woven snowflake pattern ribbon accents the border. No rips, no tears, and no holes...but this piece is old and has been worn and is a bit "dirty".... and still has its original ties. It is 14 inches wide and 21 inches long...great ethnographic textile for framing.

Standing on a modern circular wooden base with his right hand raised in abhaya mudra and his left arm at the shoulder. Wearing a sanghati draped over his left shoulder and finely pleated in undulating folds. Antique Japanese small lacquer safe box with hinged door and 3 small interior drawers. Decorated on all sides including the drawer fronts with detailed harakusa (octopus vine) design in fine maki-e lacquer on a dense nashiji ground. The drawers are covered on all sides in fine nashiji gold flakes. Hardware is made of silver and incised with a similar scrolling vine motif.

A rather unusual aspect of the Buddha image.

Interesting stone stamp seal found in Harran, easternmost Turkey, prior to 1991. Harran was founded as a real city at some point between the 25th and 20th centuries BC, possibly as a merchant colony by Sumerian traders from Ur. A rare Himalayan hardwood storage chest with a simple hinge top lid. Originally from the foothills of the Himalayas this chest would have been used to keep safe storage of dry goods. All hand carved with geometric designs. Hand forged chain that hooks and secures the lid closed. Original finish with natural coloring. Very sturdy and in pristine condition.
Japanese Green Kutani Stoneware Dish, 8 1/4" diameter, 1 3/8" high, with very design of two(2) horses, one is white, other horse is gold, with attendant enjoying two(2) Birds singing on the tree branches in the Forest, surrounded with ornate intricate macramé design in Orange and green overglaze Border. Signed on the bottom "KUTANI" on top of the dark orange color inside the bottom rim, and black scrolling Vine design on top of the overglaze Green. The condition is good, no damages.
Circa 1750 Chinese export Nanking Cargo blue and white porcelain tea bowl and saucer. The cup and saucer were recovered from the wreck of the Dutch East India Company ship "De Geldermalsen", which sank in 1751 near Java. The recovered pieces from the wreck are now referred to as "The Nanking Cargo". A lovely balustroid drinking glass with a flared bell bowl on a stem with an inverted baluster knop with enclosed tear. All this above a cushion basal knop surmounting a beaded knop above a domed and folded foot. Note that balustroids with teared knops are sometimes attributed to Newcastle glass houses. The bowl has a small black slag seed.
