This solid Japanese Meiji bronze elephant is very heavy with skin and muscles modelled to a high standard. The elephant looks very animated and was obviously created by an artist of great talent. It is marked on the base with what looks to be a slightly rubbed Seiya signature. There is no damage to this piece.

Measuring 2.75 inches in diameter by 3 inches high, this darling, circa 1890's, English, porcelain, double quill holder features a startled mother dove attempting to fend off a serpent about to devour the three eggs in her nest!

Likely Staffordshire, the quill holder features lovely polychrome coloration. Condition is wonderful with no chips, breaks, repairs, or repaints. Age crackling to glaze is evident along with a tiny stain on the dove's breast.

This serpentine stone displays a yellowish buff color against a mottled blackish tone to produce a mountainous landscape effect. It is tubular in form and set upon 3 carved feet. 18th Century Qianlong period 1736-1795 Chinese Famille Rose porcelain Spoon Rest or spoon tray, 5/8" high, 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" wide, with overglaze enamel design of flowering branches in the center with four(4) separate cartouches in the center, white on white decoration techniques were used between the four(4) cartouches in small areas. The bottom is unglazed. There is a tiny frit smaller than 1/16" wide on the rim, no other damages or restoration.

From our World Handicrafts Collection (ex-Asia), a handsome Caucasus accent rug, early 20th century, featuring wool on wool construction using red, two different blues, dark green, black, peach, orange and gray. A very nice unpretentious example with good character. Though there is a fairly wide spectrum of colors used, the main feeling is mostly of red, gray, and blue, and the overall palette is quite subdued, making this piece very useable in a variety of different decors.

This Japanese walrus tusk carving of a young maiden is a late-19th century or early 20th century product. It is 7 ¼” high (8 7/8” high with wood base) and 2 ¾” wide. It depicts a young maiden holding a long necked vase in one hand and a long stemmed flower in her other hand. There is a tall stand beside her with an incense burner. The statue is permanently mounted on the carved wood base. It is in great condition.

This nicely executed silver alloy tea pot is a late-19th century product. It is 8” high (9 ½” high with handle extended) and 9” wide at the spout. The body is 6 ¼” wide. The famous 8 immortals and their symbols appear over the entire hexagonal body and cover. The spout is the shape of a mythical animal, PiXie. The knob on the cover of the teapot is a seated PiXie. There is an honorable mark “Great Qing Qian Long” stamped on the bottom. It is in great condition.

This very well carved and designed carved bamboo root brush washer is an early-20th century product. It is 1 7/8” high and 5 7/8” wide (measured from the widest part). It depicts old pine trees with a crane resting on one of the limbs. According to Chinese tradition, pine trees and cranes represent longevity. It is in great condition.

The subtle pair of Japanese bronze vases with the detailed work done of motifs of lotuses, herons, and carp fascinate the eyes. This is a design for a kimono with a leafing vine surrounding a lacquer calligraphy box with inkstone and brushes in tones of grays and black with only the calligraphy brushes having red and yellow handles. The grain of the woodblock shows through the background of the kimono. Printed on mulberry paper and probably a leaf from a design album. There is a stain above the upper right sleeve, and a repaired 2 inch tear at the top of the leaf. The paper has yellowed slightly.
