Antique Japanese Shino Ware Chawan (Tea Bowl) Old Shino Pottery for Tea Ceremony Meiji period (1868-1912).
The potter signature is carved on the bottom.
Shino pottery is produced in today's Gifu prefecture since 16th century and it is distinguished by thick white glazes, red marks and the surface of small holes.

Small Buddhist stupa mounted on an elephant. The stupa is composed of three parts which were carved separately from chlorite. Graeco-Buddhist art, Gandhara, ca. 3rd century. Height: 13.7 cm. Several chips, otherwise very good condition. A rare piece.
Width approximately 18.5 cm (across the handles). Height approximately 11.5 cm included the stand. There are a sticker mark and light effects on the body, no patches or damage to the body. At the base, there are erosions, peeling skin, and a skin crack. More pictures are available. In good condition.
A charming Okimono made of fine grain wood, probably cherry wood because it is too light and wide rings to be boxwood. It represents a couple of cats or martens dressed in kimono. Very nice sculpture, neat details, hair, whiskers. Inlaid eyes. Two other sculptures of this subject are known but much smaller and are housed in the Metropolitan and the other in the Fine art of Boston. They are announced as netsuke.
Good condition, nice patina. Worn of uses for a sculpture of the 19th century...
Otagaki Rengetsu (1791-1875) Antique Japanese Tea Cup with inscribed poem and signature
Rengetsu Otagaki (1791-1875) was a Buddhist nun who is widely regarded to have been one of the greatest Japanese poets of the 19th century.
She was also a skilled potter and painter and expert calligrapher and adorned her ceramics with poems written in her unique calligraphic style.
The cup style and the the glaze is consistent with authentic Rengetsu work.

A pair of large Chinese made and decorated porcelain serving plates for the Western market circa 1790. Good flowers painted in a complex design covering most of the surface. The square edge appears to be gilded with something more like bronzing powder than fire gilding. 11 1/8 inches (28.5 cm) diameter.
Condition: one with minor rim chips, minor stacking wear and some black firing spots. The other with a fairly significant rim chip and associated hairline.
A pair of oversize porcelain plates made and decorated in China around 1790 for export to the West. Brightly colored carmine flowers with touches of blue and yellow and green leaves cover most of the surface of the plates. The edges are glazed brown. 10 ¼ inch (26 cm) diameter.
Condition: one with a couple of very minor chips on the edge and a spider crack visible on the bottom, but not on the face...
Hand painted with extensive flowers a pair of porcelain soup plates made in China and decorated for the Western market about 1790. The flowers are carmine with touches of blue and yellow and different shades of green for the leaves. The edges of the plates are glazed brown. Diameter 8 7/8 inches (22. 5 cm) and 1 3/8 inches (3 cm) tall.

Opium box of rounded rectangular shape, decorated with an embossed design all over its body representing a noble man in front of a house in the company of two women, a floral decor, Chinese characters and a geometric design. The lid itself is decorated with an embossed feminine figure (a dancer) surmounted by a bat. The box is made of copper with a fine age patina. China, end of 19th century. Height: 5.6 cm. A very tall late nineteenth century bronze lamp base in a mixture of classical styles. It was cast in sections then joined with a steel rod running up through the hollow pieces. The flowers on the flying saucer in the middle are attached. Though it could have been made anywhere I suspect that it may have been made in France. 19 inches (48.3 cm) tall.
Condition: All there and traces of gilding. Some corrosion toward the base which wipes off with vigorous work.
A pair of patinated and gilt bronze four light candelabra in the early 19th century style and probably of the period. Most of the later 19th century bases are attached with screws directly to the underside of the feet. These are attached through a piece of wood and bolts are held in place with hand cut square nuts. Good casting and chasing. The height is 24 inches (61 cm).
Condition: overall excellent with much of the patination and gilding intact. One of the candle cups replaced...

Japanese Yama Chawan (literally 'Mountain Tea Bowl'), biscuit firing ware with impressive natural glaze and slightly distorted form. It dates back to the Kamakura Period (1185 - 1333). Highlight is big golden Foo Dog which was added by a former owner as a kind of Kintsugi to close a damage on the inside surface. Such typ of Kintsugi is definitely rare.
You can also find traces of the famous kai-yu glaze on this excavated piece, which makes it to a true historic-cultural highlight.

Absolutely beautiful, very heavy, sterling tray. It measures 22" long x 14 1/2" wide x 1" tall and weighs 2045 grams. It is heavily decorated with flowers and leaves. It is marked on the bottom "sterling" with what appears to be a beehive. It is rare to find a sterling tray of this weight and beauty.

Antique Tibetan painted traveling trunk (also known as a Yak butter trunk) used to store and transport religious yak butter sculptures and artifacts. The main image shows a flaming jewel while the surrounding painting shows an octagonal foliated grid pattern. The fractal design shows an infinite repetition of the Mandala shapes and patterns. Decorated with the arrow shaped mounts along the edges. The polychrome on wood is all original.

Antique Japanese figure of the seated Amida Nyoria (Amitaba) Lord Buddha. He is seated on a lotus throne, his hands in his lap in Dhyan Mudra (meditation). Carved of wood with gilt lacquer and traces of pigments on the lotos throne. His hair atop his subtle ushnisha is arranged in sweeping striations instead of the tight curls more commonly seen. His heavily lidded eyes are inset with glass or crystal and his facial expression radiates a calm stillness.
