This fanciful Art Nouveau style brass desk box was originally made to hold stamps but would be a great place to store a special ring, cufflinks or a secret. Rectangular shaped, standing on four feet, the hinged cover has a centered sunflower surrounded by leaves and vines, two compartments inside, unmarked. Measures 3 in. x 1 5/8 in. x 1 1/4 in. high. Condition is near perfect.

An Excellent Porcelain Armorial Inkstand or Deskset, made by Edme Samson et Cie, Paris, circa 1880. In a Rectangular Shape, with Two Inkwells, with Inserts. Dimensions; 10.25" wide x 7,75" deep x 3.5" high. In excellent shape, except for a slight chip on on of the inkwell tops (see picture). There is no mark on the underside, but it is definitely Samson, based on other items we have recently posted.

A wonderful and very desirable example of an 8-sided Lowestoft tea caddy, or canister. Painted with a flower bouquet and sprays beneath a border of flowerheads and foliate scrolls, the top having flowers and leaves.

The caddy is 3 1/2 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter, and is in superb condition, with no cracks, chips, or restoration. The only tiny blemish of any type is a 3/16" long glaze split at the top of the rim, clearly occurring during manufacture...

A very nice Victorian tartanware paper knife in the form of a pocket knife. The cover is in the McBeth tartan. The folding blade is carved from bone or ivory (the blade is too thin to be able to tell with certainty). Tartanware became popular in the mid-19th century because of Queen Victoria's fascination with Scotland. The colorful plaids were transformed into an enormous array of objects for daily use.

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in England between 1800 and 1815. It has no mark from the manufacturer but it may have been made by Minton or Coalport. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches and is 1 1/8 inches deep. The cup is 2 1/2 inches high. The shape of the cup is known as a bute shape. The porcelain has a slightly grayish tinge to it. Pair of English brass Georgian telescopic ejector candlesticks, c.1800. Size: 6.75" - 9.25" height x 3.5" x 3.5". Condition: Some tiny stress cracks to the top of the lower section of one candlestick (see photos detail). Also, one stick requires extra effort to get it to remain in the fully extended position and probably required some sort of new dampening material to keep it in place.

A superb oil on canvas American folk art painting depicting a man orating about temperance. He is standing beneath trees which are arching to almost form a bower over him. A courting couple is on either side of him, with a church in the background. The symbolism of the couples probably reflects the belief that marital and family relations improve in temperance households. A wonderfully rendered pottery Staffordshire portrait bust of the philosopher John Locke. The name is incised on the back of this piece. Raised on a faux marble socle, the figure is effectively modelled and strongly colored. The condition is superb, with no chips, cracks, restoration, inpainting, or enamel loss. A nice sterling silver long pickle/olive fork in the "Nautilus" pattern by Blackinton. The handle is ornately decorated with floral and shell motifs. The tines are parcel matte gilt and have foliate decoration at the shoulders to match the handle. The handle is monogrammed "L" on the front and has the date "[18]98" on the back.

This porcelain plate was produced in Germany by Meissen before 1920. The diameter of the plate is 10 inches. The plate has a scalloped rim and a deep well. It has the most excellent flower painting. The flowers are bright and realistic. There is a cobalt blue border and fancy gold trim accenting it. The foot ring on the back of the plate has two very minor chips. This plate is first quality and has no other defects.

A very nice hammered brass jardiniere from Russia's Imperial era. The vessel is raised on cast lion's paw feet and is flanked by ring handles grasped in cast lion's heads. The jardiniere is constructed in the traditional manner with seamed joints and a rolled lip. The bottom is stamped with the Imperial Romanov double-headed eagle.
