An extremely folky and graphically strong hooked rug with vibrant colors, initialled KP and dated 1898;some minor and invisible museum quality restoration was done, and the rug was then mounted on acid free cloth and frame; a nice large size of 56" by 27"

A fine tinsel, or foil, painting. The relatively uncommon subject matter is a basket of fruit, nicely reverse painted on glass with tinsel backing. What unfortunately doesn't show well in the photo, because of the lighting, is the bunch of grapes directly under the basket.

The painting is in very good condition, with what is probably its original gilded frame and wood backing. The overall size is 16" by 14".

This gem was the product of the Gundersen-Pairpoint Company in the mid 20th century, but ended up the collection of an avid glass addict. For serious collectors, we can offer limited but very interesting provenance for this and other goblets we are selling from a socially prominent philanthropist who settled in north Georgia and died in 1939. This pair of porcelain goblets was produced in Germany by Nymphenburg between 1850 and 1862. They measure 6 7/8 inches high and have a diameter of 2.75 inches. They are decorated with portraits of persons of royalty to commemorate their engagement or marriage. The portraits are executed with photographic detail. Each goblet has elaborate gilding surrounding the portraits, around the foot of the goblet and on the back...

This porcelain tea cup, saucer and plate were produced in England by Spode Copeland in the late 19th century. The plate measures 5 5/8 inches square, the saucer measures 4 3/4 inches square and the cup is 2 5/8 inches high. The set is made of fine, white bone china. The set is interesting in that it is square in shape. It is decorated with cobalt blue borders that have raised enamel beading...

This is a Victorian Staffordshire-style spill vase, of biscuit porcelain shaded to pale green, spill vases were placed on a fireplace mantle to hold spills---the small wood or paper splinters used to obtain light from a fire; modeled as 3 knarled trees joined by leafy branches; surface cracks; 6" high.

This pair of porcelain vases was produced in England by Mintons in the 1870s. The vases measure 8 ¾ inches high and are 4 inches in diameter. The ground color shades from turquoise blue to cream color. The decorations are hand enameled. The style is aesthetic, inspired by the Asian cultures. Weeping vines of wisteria, prunus blossoms and Japanese mons are painted in heavy gold and platinum enamel. The shoulders of the vases have a collar of raised gold decorations...

A charming tinsel (foil) painting depicting a variety of flowers in an urn placed on a stone slab. Dating from the last half of the 19th century, the painted frame, worth a bit of money on its own, is likely earlier, with a wood backboard The painting is in fine condition, with only some very small minor speckles in the black background. The frame could use a little spiffing up. Sight size is 9 1/2" by 13 1/2", and the framed size is 13 1/4" by 17 1/8".

A wonderful and amusing hooked rug depicting an aardvark. I have collected many rugs featuring animals but have never seen another with an aardvark. Well, at least I think this is someone's interpretation of an aardvark, or possibly a beaver, armadillo or pangolin. Whatever the craftsman was aiming for, one has to smile at this, and at the pinkish salmon background color surrounded by a scalloped teal border. Cotton yarn and with original burlap foundation.

The size is 43" by 30 1/2"...

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany at the Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufactory between 1830 and 1840. The saucer is 4 1/4 inches long, 3 7/8 inches wide and the cup is 1 1/2 inches high. The set is made in the quatrefoil shape or 4 sides. It has beautifully hand painted scenes of lovers in landscapes. The painting is expertly done and the colors are vivid. The rims are trimmed with elaborately gilded borders with tiny pink roses...

An uncommon tinsel, or foil, painting on glass. Extremely vibrant, with deep colors, the painting shows a bluebird surrounded by a variety of fruit, with a compote of fruit behind it. It is rare to have a foil scene without a lot of open space between subjects.

The painting is in excellent condition, as is the later frame, which measures 16 1/4" by 13 1/4".

This porcelain chocolate cup and saucer was produced in Vienna, Austria in 1804. Impressed numbers on the bottom of the saucer indicate this year. It has an underglaze cobalt blue bee hive marking on both pieces. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches and is 1 3/4 inches high. The cup is 4 1/4 inches high, including the lid. The set is considered to be a “trembleuse” with the attached gallery holding the cup on the saucer. The borders on each piece have a molded basket weave pattern...

A beautiful and striking pair of American folk art pastel still life paintings. The fruit is laid out on a green table, and wonderfully executed. The black background provides superb contrast and highlights the radiance of the apples, pears, grapes, peaches, etc.

The gilded over gesso frames are period and probably original...
