A wonderful late 19th or very early 20th century sheet iron weathervane in the form of a sperm whale silhouette. The vane is hand sawn and retains its old coat of oxidized green paint (may be original, but appears to be a second coat). One side still has its black painted eye. The silhouette is attached to its original copper mounting pole. Found in Maine.

A large (15 5/8 inch diameter) tile of birds and flowers enclosed within a blue border inside black lines. The tile has the usual thick transparent crackled glaze, muted colors and off-white tone. 15 5/8 inches (38 cm) diameter.

Condition: no cracks, hairlines or repairs. Some very small chips on the edge, the biggest is under the glaze so it must have happened before firing. Strong supports for hanging on a wall.

This is a Beautiful Pair of Porcelain Figural Candelabras. These candelabra depict a young lady and young man in a lovely garden scene. We believe these candelabras to date to around the late 1800's. Unique and bold Raku influenced Kyogenhakama chawan by Nyoitera Haryo of the Nyoisanzin temple kiln and possibly dating to the late Edo or Meiji period. This Raku influenced chawan exhibits a generous form flanked by a series of circular impression over which a Raku glaze that has transmuted to a wide range of colors. A finely detailed ornate mesh purse with handle. Made of 800 silver with a floral design around the clasp. The interior contains a unique mesh coin purse. One of the enlarged photos shows a small area under the clasp missing a hoop which we can easily repair if so desired. We can also polish the purse free of charge.

"Mate" is a special cup for drinking "yerba mate" a popular tea brewed from the leaves of a native holly (Ilex Paraguariensis). The perforated silver straw used for drinking the "mate" contains leaves carving.

Fabulous and extremely rare hand-forged iron trade sign in the form of a pretzel. The sign retains an old gilt surface. There is a strong trace of red, yellow and blue paint on the back side and edges of the pretzel, no doubt the colors that were used on the wall or backboard to which the sign was attached through the 13 mounting holes. Great pair of cast iron owl andirons with glass eyes that light up from the flames of the fire. They measure 15" tall X 9 1/2" wide x 16" deep, are attributed to Howes Foundry of Boston, Mass., and are from the 1880s.
