Beautiful European car dish made using the "aqua-fortis" technique which is a type of etching. In this technique, plates of copper, steel, zinc, etc. are covered with a varnish and then blackened with black-smoke. A hand tool is used to remove the varnish, exposing the raw metal. This set of 10 porcelain plates was produced in Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufacturer, or KPM, in 1905. The date marking indicates this year. The plates are 8 5/8 inches in diameter. They have scalloped rims and finely reticulate borders. The centers are expertly hand painted with luscious, ripe fruits and flowers. 1830-40 velvet reticule theorem purse In nice condition with some age darkening. It is all hand sewn, lined with fine homespun linen. No rips or tears but there is loss of most of the ribbon trim around the outside edges. It is 8 1/2" top to bottom and 8" across at the widest point.

This handsome case, highlighted by black niello enamel, could be used for various things, including business cards. It has a flower motif on both sides, and space for a monogram on one side, should you wish it. It is marked (and tests as) sterling silver. It measures 3-7/8 x 2-15/16”, and weighs in at 4.92 ounces. In excellent condition. The elastic may be a replacement. We believe this case is pre-1920, but would welcome other opinions...

Elegant sterling silver pickle fork in the 1891 "Corinthian" pattern by the Roger Williams Silver Co. The fork is very heavy and is wonderfully decorated with deep scrolls that rise from the surrounding smooth areas.

A lovely set of six sterling silver strawberry forks in Lunt’s 1893 “Navarre” pattern. This pattern was actually developed by A. F. Towle & Sons, which eventually was purchased by Lunt Silversmiths. The handles are beautifully decorated in an asymmetric pattern of volutes, acanthus leaves and flowers. The slightly splayed double tines retain their original matte gilding. The backs are marked with the A.F. Towle hallmark and the retailer’s mark “G. Frank”.
