An 18th century faience desk set or inkwell for a lady, decoration of flower sprigs, mainly Forget me nots. French, possibly Rouen around 1780, Width "6 ¼ / 15.8 cm and height " / 5.7 cm. The base with four little feet and mark W in black, maybe for William Sturgeon who owned one of the Rouen factories from 1776. Condition: later restorations having been removed, now left with cracks and hairlines (cf. pics) but still charming.

Russian wooden egg, lacquered in black and painted. One side with an orthodox cross and the other probably depicting St Basil’s cathedral in the Kremlin in the late 19th century. It might also show the then newly erected cathedral of the Assumption in Omsk. Height "4 / 10.5 cm. Condition: the painted decoration is flaking, as is the black lacquer (cf. pics).

A clear glass scent bottle of profiled shape, mouth blown in a mold, the white enamel decoration underlining the contours of the design. Made around 1850 and probably Scandinavian. Height including stopper "6 ¼ / 16 cm. Condition: small nick to the underside of the mouth rim.

A pair of blue glass vases, Pearline from Davidson’s in Gateshead, England. Pearline, an opalizing pressed glass launched by Davidson’s, was very much en vogue c 1890 – 1910. Height "4/ 10.2 cm. Condition: fin (please observe that what might look like cracks to the base in the photos are mould traces).

This ancient bellows, 9 pounds in weight and 50 inches long, 15 inches across at the widest point, appears to be of Pennsylvania origin, (judging from the colorful "hex" symbol associated with furniture from the area). I am hardly a specialist in Pennsylvania folk art, but thought the hex symbol would permit this to be safely placed in that category...

Watercolor still life of wildflowers and some cultivated ones, in a vase of the period, large size at 24" by 18" inside the mat, 35" by 28 3/4" as framed, unsigned, in the nineteenth century tradition that traces its roots back to stencil type paintings. This would likely date to the period 1850 to 1880. Detail is painstaking and extreme; this artist was no amateur. There are bluebells, forget-me-nots, roses, fuchsia, some kind of lily, some kind of daisy and others...

This is a very interesting piece created by an early artist very skilled in needlework: an oval shaped map of England and Wales and small parts of Ireland, Scotland and France, the oval measuring approximately 19 1/2" by 17" (about 27" by 22 1/2" in the vintage gold frame). Judging from the seated figure of Britannia and the lettering and overall handling, I'd estimate this to date to the late 18th or early 19th century...

Silver stuffing spoon, 12 1/8" in length, the bowl 1 7/8" wide at the widest point, weight close to four ounces on a common postal scale, bearing the marks on the reverse of the noted mid eighteenth century London craftsman JOHN LAMPFERT, who was known to be working in silver from at least 1749. I am an art dealer, so, not experienced with silver. There are a number of stamps in the handle...

The Madonna della seggiola or Madonna della sedia is a Madonna painting by the Italian renaissance artist Raphael, dating to c. 1513-1514 and housed in the Palazzo Pitti collection in Florence. It depicts Mary embracing the child Christ, while the young John the Baptist devoutly watches. The bronzed pewter plaque is earlier then other available those have a simple border as well an a title cast on the back. We date this example to late 18th c Italy...

This is antique ecclesiastical sheet music in Latin, from earlier centuries, commonly known as an "antiphonal". These are normally seen as hand painted manuscripts on vellum (animal skin). The present example (19 3/4" by 14") is a rather typical example, with red bars, brown/sepia lettering and notes and a few capital letters in colors (in this case, one blue, one red)...

This is a stoneware crock, 11 1/2" high and approximately 10 1/2" diameter, natural non-gray color, the "2" cut into the wet clay before it was fired. There are several edge chips, but there is some white paint on one side of the rim that is NOT chips, and it comes off with the fingernail. Note the glaze. I am a fine arts dealer and stoneware is not my area of expertise, so, I hope I am identifying this properly...

Turn-of-the-century American Craftsman sterling silver porringer. Bellied bowl on inset foot ring. Finely faceted hand hammering with "disco ball" shimmer. Plain open tree handle. Fully marked including retailer’s stamp for A. Stowell & Co., who were active in Boston from ca 1865 to 1904. Very good condition.

This porcelain figure or bust was produced in France by Vion & Baury in the 1870s. This piece is signed with impressed letters EB, Paris and a signature S. Kinsburger. The bisque figure is 7 ½ inches high and 4 ½ inches wide. The bust depicts a charming young maiden with a love letter tucked into her clothing. She is dressed in a frilly cap with polka dots. Her embroidered bodice is intricately hand painted and a row of gilded buttons accent it...

This porcelain plate was produced in England by Royal Crown Derby in 1890. The date cipher indicates this year. The plate was made especially for the New York retailer, Wilhelm & Graef. The plate measures 9 inches in diameter. It is made of fine bone china. The ground color is pale yellow. Four center panels and two bands of ruby red enamel form the decoration. The entire surface of the plate has incredible raised gilding. The design is inspired by Persian influence that Crown Derby ...

This perfume stand or caddy was produced in France in the 1870s. The mark on the Longwy insert is partially covered but may be from 1815 to 1835. The metal stand is 8 ¾ inches high and the diameter is inches. The metal is dore gilded. There are three hand cut crystal bottles with stoppers. A Longwy ceramic dish or tray was used as an insert for the stand. It gives the stand a Persian look. It is an intriguing piece purchased as a souvenir by a traveler taking the grand tour of Euro...
