Exceptional American coin silver melon spoon in the Grecian taste. Although simply marked "Coin" this spoon could easily be the work of Gorham, Coles, or other makers of similar repute. An unusual foil, or tinsel, painting depicting two birds hovering over a large flowering plant. The painting is done basically in tones of taupe and green. The frame is period and is most likely original. The back is sealed with paper that appears to have been a student's calligraphy practice.

Outstanding brass match holder the pocket formed in the shape of a shield and punch-decorated in a stars and stripes pattern. The pocket is surmounted by a punch-decorated American eagle underneath the motto “In God We Trust”. This motto was adopted in 1863 as a subtle government reminder during the Civil War that God was on the side of the Union troops fighting to end the evil of slavery. The backplate has a punchwork border and also a hole for hanging.

This set of 8 porcelain plates was produced in Czechoslovakia, known as Bohemia, by Pirkenhammer in 1916. The plates have a diameter of 9 inches. They have deep cobalt blue ground which is hand decorated with two colored gold. There are violets, poppies, fuchsia and wild roses. They also have butterflies and insects. No two plates are exactly the same. The gilding is raised so that you can feel the decoration. The rims of each plate are also gilded.
