A fine example of early American folk art. Generally classed as fraktur type, paintings such as these were done by children, and were often, as this one was, painted on a page from a ledger or notebook. This particular piece is a charming depiction of an eagle, and is housed in a period frame with good surface.

English sterling silver berry spoon dating from the reign of George III. The lobed bowl is decorated with repousse apples, berries and foliage; the handle with bright cut engraving, both added later in the 19th century. This porcelain cup and saucer was produced in France around 1810. There are no markings on either of the pieces. It could have been made by one of the numerous porcelain manufacturers in the Paris vicinity at that period. The saucer has a diameter of 5 inches and the cup is 3 3/8 inches high, excluding the handle. The porcelain is heavy and substantial. The decoration is hand painted. This porcelain pot de crème with lid was produced by an unknown Paris porcelain manufacturer before 1850. It is 4 1/4 inches high with the lid. The porcelain is molded with panels and ornaments and a perky little finial on the lid. It has a pedestal base and a fancy handle. The piece is hand painted with pink and blue enamel florals. A superb quality very large pottery figure of a male attendant or official, dating to the earlier Ming Dynasty, 1400-1500 AD.

The figure is placed on a high hexagonal plint and wears a fine two-colour blue and turquoise glazed robe. The unglazed areas have pigmented colors in red, black and white. Finely painted facial details.

The head is attachable as often seen on the largest figures from this period.

A very nice small-size silver plate wine taster in the classical style. The bottom features the typical convex bottom surrounded by concave "godrons" adn "cupules." intended to create high and low spots to better appreciate the color of the wine as light is reflected through it. A tall and elegant toasting glass with a drawn trumpet bowl leading into a stem with a multiple-spiral air twist. A nice gray metal, good striations, and tooling marks, with two small inclusions in the bowl. Rough, snapped pontil. Excellent condition with no chips or restoration.

Circa 1850, this lovely sterling silver serving spoon has a gilded and perforated bowl, and a long handle with a three dimensional calla lily detail at the end. The leaves stretch across the top of the bowl also. It was most likely made by Whiting. The bowl measures approximately 3" in diameter and the handle is 7" long. It is in very good condition, with most of the gilding still in tact. It is marked "STERL" on the back.

A superb early vault or bankboks key in exceptional condition, still with the original blueing of the steel, late 17th. century.

Though relatively short the key is very substantial in hand and finely made, perhaps by a gunmaker. The stem is short and fluted, hollow made and the bit very sturdy with cut slots. Such a stem was a new invention for security keys in the period, making it much, much harder to copy.

Unusual lightweight original watch chain of made of gunmetal, a material used to make decorative chains, purses, brooches, buckles and other items during the Victorian era. Gunmetal is an alloy of copper and tin. Our chain has a lovely complex knot link that is shown closeup in the images. It is hard to imagine the time it took to construct such a chain by hand, and a similar link could not be made today. Gunmetal watch chains were both decorative and functional. Very unusual Victorian sterling silver grapefruit spoon with a wonderful plique-a-jour enamel assymetrical handle decorated in six shades of translucent enamel. It is quite unusual for plique-a-jour enamel to have been used on a grapefruit spoon, as it was so fragile that it was usually reserved for more delicate pieces like demitasse spoons. The back is marked with Imperial Austrian marks in use 1866-1922.

A tall and beautiful antique English ale glass with a DSOT stem. The elongated ogee bowl is engraved below the rim with meandering branches of barley and hops. Midway down the bowl is a finely engraved bee. The stem contains a double series opaque twist comprised of a multi-ply band outside of a pair of spiral tapes. Conical foot with a rough, snapped pontil.

The glass is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. Good color, tool marks, and striations. The height is 8 1/4"...

An uncommon English firing dram glass with an ogee bowl, c 1765, made of lead metal. The stem is of the double series opaque twist type (DSOT) and is comprised of a pair of 6-ply spiral bands outside of a pair of spiral tapes. A pair of mid-19thC ornate Meissen style covered urns. This amazing and massive pair of mid-19th century French porcelain 19" covered mantle urns were made by M.S. Claus, France. They are fully hand painted and in the Meissen style, and both are extravagantly festooned with hand-formed and applied flowers and leaves. Antique French Straw Work Souvenir Box, Circa 1900 (minor losses).

Large old Chinese rosewood stand on 5 small feet. Well constructed, it is very sturdy and will hold a lot of weight. There appears to be a repair on the inner bottom, but when we tried to move the piece in question, it would not budge. Therefore there are absolutely no condition issues with this stand. Measures 3.25" (8.9 cm) high, and about 8.5" (21.6 cm) diameter (see 2nd photo).

This is an exquisite Dresden porcelain tea pot, studio mark of Richard Klemm, ca. 1891-1914; of flattened ovoid shape with a ruffled foot, lovely open vine handle, and distinctive shaped rim; decorated with Deutsche blumen and overall gilding. Condition: pristine; no chips or cracks, no visible wear to gilt. Measurement: 6 _"h.

Elegant Victorian sterling silver serving dish with intricate repousse and pierced sides. The sides are finished off with a cyma-curve border punctuated at compass points with baroque shell motifs. The bottom is fully hallmarked for London, 1891-92, and has the maker’s mark “WC”. The piece is quite heavy and is of the very good quality.

Antique 19th century American Victorian needlepoint picture in oval dark walnut frame, measuring 22" by 19". This was acquired recently from a local Santa Monica estate that was like "New England West"---filled with eastern Americana and furnishings.
