Our best and earliest bronze travellers icon. A very early and attractive bronze travellers icon, made way before the Ban on bronze travellers icon making by Peter the Great in 1722. This icon dates to the 16th. century with the fine renaissance style. Note the fine loop, decorated with the head of Christ.

DESCRIPTION: 800 silver plaque over wood icon depicts Madonna and child, the faces are enamled while the body features in a silver filigree overlay with both figures wearing elaborate garments and crowns. Engraved with writing Marked "800", from first quarter of 20th century. Size; Height of icon is 10 inches with length of 8.5 inches, no condition issues.

Very rare and large French Silver plated Baroque Tripod Candelabrum. Relief cast with detailed shell designs, scrolling and 3 attached gilt holy figures. Elaborate as the Baroque style is and a rare specimen ! Condition good, silver plate somewhat worn off due to age and use, good weight. The Madonna della seggiola or Madonna della sedia is a Madonna painting by the Italian renaissance artist Raphael, dating to c. 1513-1514 and housed in the Palazzo Pitti collection in Florence. It depicts Mary embracing the child Christ, while the young John the Baptist devoutly watches. The bronzed pewter plaque is earlier then other available those have a simple border as well an a title cast on the back. We date this example to late 18th c Italy...

Authentic antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox brass traveling icon "The Mother of Good Joy of All Who Sorrows." The central figure is the Virgin Mary holding a warder in her right hand, with groups of people on either side. At the top is an image of Jesus Christ as the King of Kings.

Very rare antique, first half of the 18th century, European pewter Roman Catholic Church paten of typical circular form with wide, finely engraved crest of the Roman Catholic Archbishop Jean-Louis Berton des Balbes de Crillon.

The coat-of-arms depicting Heraldic shield with the coat-of-arms of one of the most important European aristocratic families of the famous house De Balbes Berton de Crillon, crowned by the Archbishop Galero (wide-brimmed hat) with 10 tassels on each side.

Gilded Wooden Cupid Angels, Baroque, fine work, found in Burma, but with obvious European influence as Burma was a British colony at that time, mounted on gilt antique wooden base/stands. 19th Century, size of angel only: H. 33cm x W.29 cm x D. 21cm including wings (with base: 46x21x21 excluding wings), good condition considering age, some inconsequential aging and very rare, price shown is per angel, not the pair. A lovingly carved "pitch pine" Madonna by self taught Sister Josephine - one of Saint Francis Cabrini's first orphans who, according to the accompanying letter, was "close to and loved by Mother Cabrini". Mother Cabrini was the first American citizen to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church and is the Patron Saint of Immigrants. Sister Josephine was born 1n 1877 - the same year that Mother Cabrini took her religious vows - she died, aged 101, in New York. Condition - very good...
