This is antique ecclesiastical sheet music in Latin, from earlier centuries, commonly known as an "antiphonal". These are normally seen as hand painted manuscripts on vellum (animal skin). Rare and important head of a bearded apostle, his face showing a strong and passionate expression. Polychrome wood. Eyes made of glass painted inside. Antique mother-of-pearl carvings from the 19th century. Christian icon of convex oval form, finely hand carved in low relief with a central raised panel depicting "The Nativity" with a winged angel above.

Shells such as these were sold in the 18th -19th century to Christian pilgrims in Jerusalem and Bethlehem, where they were carved in relief and pierced by hand by local Palestinian craftsmen...

DESCRIPTION: 800 silver plaque over wood icon depicts Madonna and child, the faces are enamled while the body features in a silver filigree overlay with both figures wearing elaborate garments and crowns. Engraved with writing Marked "800", from first quarter of 20th century. Size; Height of icon is 10 inches with length of 8.5 inches, no condition issues.

Antique, Byzantine, 16th/17th-century horn cross pendant, pressed in relief, with rounded finials and a suspension loop.

The cross depicts the Holy Trinity; God the Father with Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

The other side shows the orant figure of Christ with upraised hands and sunburst around his head. The three arms of the cross are adorned with busts of saints.
