Gilded Wooden Cupid Angels, Baroque, fine work, found in Burma, but with obvious European influence as Burma was a British colony at that time, mounted on gilt antique wooden base/stands. 19th Century, size of angel only: H. 33cm x W.29 cm x D. 21cm including wings (with base: 46x21x21 excluding wings), good condition considering age, some inconsequential aging and very rare, price shown is per angel, not the pair. Spectacular and extremely rare Giant size antique Buddha Figure dressed in royal robes, lacquer intricately inlaid with inset flat glass/mirror mosaics backed with colored foil and further decorated with moulded relief work forming beautiful spirals. The Buddha seated in "bhumisparshamudra" (subduing Mara), his left hand rests palm upward, on his lap, and the right hand rests on his right knee, calling the Earth to witness...

These intriguing vessels first appeared to Western collectors around the turn of the century and were quite a delightful find. Appearing in the ruins of a long forgotten monastery near Kunming, hundreds of these jars were discovered in many several sites in Yunnan...

This particular piece is a very unique, stone prayer tablet. It is difficult to date but stylistically could be as early as the Five Dynasties period (907-960 AD). These tablets were often found in conjunction with the ceramic offering vessels from Yunnan. The tablets would accompany the offering vessels and would sometimes comprise an enclosure for the offering vessels. (See trocadero item number 797164 for an example of the offering vessel)...

This interesting little ceramic figure is purportedly from the Majapahit period (1293-1500)of Eastern Java. Possibly a religious figure, it is barefoot and has tribal head-dress and flowing robes. There does appear to be a light colored glaze underneath the surface dirt which I have not attempted to remove or clean. The statue is just under 20 cm in height and weighs 444 grams. This is a truly unique piece of ancient artwork, the likes of which we have not seen...

This incredible antiquity is a glazed ceramic offering vessel from the Song Dynasty of ancient China (960-1279 AD). Besides being in near perfect condition, this rare piece has impeccable provenance from the collection of the famous Arthur M Sackler as sold through Christies auction house in NY in April of 2010. Auction #2301, lot #323.. It measures roughly 38 cm in height and shows no signs of repair or restoration...

Very rare pair of 19th Century elaborately hand carved solid wooden ceremonial parasol stands, gilded and inlaid with colored mirror pieces. Good condition overall. Hand carved Baroque polychrome wooden cupid angel, typical chubby features of the period. Original black and red patina with gilding. This piece is a fantastic specimen of Southeast Asian art from the 12-13th century Khmer culture. It was cleaned several years ago by the previous owner but does retain some of its original patina. It appears to have been crafted in two pieces and is cast from either a copper or possibly a silver alloy - though I have not had it tested. It is just under 19 cm tall and weighs 335 grams.

A fine identical pair of Catholic Church Brass Candelabrums with tripod bases, relief cast with Joseph, Maria and the Sacred Heart on 3 different panels. French, 19th Century. Good condition. Size: H. 12" x 4.5" at base (31 cm. x 11.5 cm.). A rare and very nice matching pair of candlesticks !
