They were made in all manner of styles well into the 20th century, with no limits to the imagination as the pursuit of novelty came into full swing. Two Dirk Van Erp Shell Casing Vases from the Mare Island period. The larger vase measures about 6 3/4" tall and 7 1/2" across. The smaller vase measures about 3 1/2" tall. Both show wear and irregularity at top. Good examples of his early work.

A rare pair of apple green glazed candle holders designed by William Howson Taylor and made at the Ruskin Pottery works in Smethwick, near Birmingham, West Midlands, UK. Both candlesticks have an impressed 1908 datemark to the base. Condition: excellent - no damages and no repairs. 16cm (6.3 inches) high; 11.5cm (4.5 inches) diameter at the base.

Striking early Edwardian 18K gold ring of a man in a turban set with diamonds. The ring dates to 1900 . The ring has a French hallmark in the shape of a pineapple and a makers mark "JD". It is a size 8 and measures 3/4" at its widest.

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Austria by Franz Dorfl between 1884 and 1902. The cup is artist signed. The shape of the set is triangular and quite unusual. The ground color is deep cobalt blue. The front of the cup has a reserve containing a hand painted scene. A classical woman is taking Cupid's bow and arrows from him. It is a spirited contest. The scene is framed with an elaborate raised gold cartouche. The gilding extends around the sides of the cup...

18K yellow gold sapphire ring with three large sapphires and two diamonds, all roughly equal in size, in the form of a classic Victorian half hoop diamond ring, with emphasis on the gemstones. The ring is set with the gemstones "a jour", or "open to the day", meaning the ring can be worn for hand washing and is appropriate for everyday wear. The stones are polished and clear. The ring measures US 7 ½.

French Limoges Porcelain Fluted large three(3) divided section deep Serving Dish with heavily gilded wide handle and gilded scalloped edge rim by GDA(Gerard Dufraisseix & Abbot), 4" high include handle, 12 3/4" wide across, sprigs of floral decoration inside the three(3) Shell shape deep serving bowls to help serving different kind of food or dips, supported by high foot bottom. Marked "GDA" "France" on the bottom. the condition is good.

A small cloisonné enamel dish, unusual colors: rusty brown and turquoise green peony, the back with bamboo leafs and grapes in dark blue and black. Japanese, late 19th century. Diameter "3 ½/ 9.2 cm. Condition: enamel loss, esp. to the back (cf. pics).

A fine hand painted and gold trimmed Dresden factory painted porcelain lidded jam or marmalade pot by Donath & Co. c1900. This 5-1/2" tall serving piece features different floral scenes on each panel between the footed columns and on the lid; it is marked with DRESDEN with the crown mark for Donath & Co. (1893-1916), and it has a gold rose painted over the Thomas maker's name. It also has the retailer's stamp for Ryrie Bros. Ltd. of Toronto (who were bought out by Birks in the 1920s)...

Cloisonné enamel charger or large dish with flowers and a flying bird against a mustard yellow ground, the back with a swirl pattern. Late Meiji or early Taisho, c 1900. Diameter "12/ 30.3 cm, height "1 ½ / 3.7 cm. Condition: a damage to the backside enameling (c f last photo). Interestingly, it shows the kind of marker used to indicate the design where the cloisonné metal straps were to be soldered onto the base. This pair of porcelain oyster plates was produced in France by Bawo & Dotter Limoges, sometimes called Elite Limoges, around 1900. They measure 8 1/2 inches in diameter.
