The clear-glass pontil was left partly polished, since it is recessed (see last picture). unsigned - could have been made by either Moser, Pfohl or another Bohemian maker.

This is a rare applied butterfly (Marquetry) box, made by Bohemian master, Ludwig Moser, around 1885. Like typical Moser objects from that epoch, the box is unsigned. But such applied-glass-motif objects were made by Moser and Harrach in Bohemia and Thomas Webb in England (refer to Baldwin's book on Moser glass). Under black-light, the box fluoresces a gentle greenish color, so the glass blank is definitely of Bohemian origin. The box is 3 1/4 inches (8,3 cm) tall and 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) wide...

It has a polished pontil and is in very good condition.
