This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in France by a Paris decorator around 1870 or earlier. The saucer has a diameter of 5 ½ inches and the cup is 1 ¾ inches high. The ground color of this set is deep cobalt blue. The cup has a reserve on the front with a Watteau scene of lovers in a garden. There are two scenes of landscapes on the saucer. Wonderful old Millville, NJ area glass paperweight wig stand or mantel ornament. The setup is pierced with five elongated icepick bubbles. Small bits of aventurine glass highlight the overall coloring of soft yellow and green. The top is heavily faceted with 33 printies of varying sizes. A very good jasper ground glass paperweight by St. Louis. The sole decoration is the pink and white jasper cushion which completely fills the dome. The glass is heavy and nicely clear. The polished concave bottom has relatively wide basal ring.

Origin: France, ca. 1850. Condition: excellent, a surface nick on one side about 1/2" above the base and a tiny fleabite about two-thirds up the side of the crown. Size: 2-3/4" diameter; 1-3/4" high.

A lovely Chinese export porcelain plate, the center decorated with a court scene depicting nobles welcoming a visitor bearing a staff and basket of fruit. The scene is very nicely enameled in the famille rose palette. The border is decorated in a trellis pattern in green enamels—a most unusual treatment for a Mandarin plate. The inner and outer borders are highlighted with gilding.

A fine pair of 19th century clambroth glass candle holders. Stout but elegant baluster turned sticks with broad, stable feet. Fine and practical decorative accents. The reference to clambroth says it all - the milky glass almost translucent (more so toward the foot - see second illustration) with opaque bubbles throughout. Good condition. These are probably pretty early and likely not common to fetch a pair. Would be a refreshing "stand in" for brass in period interior. They are tall at height 1...

This is an extremely unusual American 12 tube candle mold, made of tin and painted black. I have seen many candle molds in my time, but don't recall ever seeing one with the type decoration that this one has. The front and side have charming and whimsical squiggles of gold paint.

Overall condition is excellent, with the usual spots of paint loss and wear, and some nicks to the base. All the tubes are present, all the paint is original, and there have been no repairs. The base is stable ...
