A lovely and extremely rare type of Westerwald vessel with handle, Germany, c. late 16th.-early 17th. century.

The vessel decorated with fine gothic looking lions and rossettes as spacers with manganese blue.

Size: c. 22 cm. wide incl the handle and 14,3 cm tall.

Condition: Nice Very fine for the early type, completely intact but for a closed crack with short hairlines, just below the handle to the right. Never repaired and very stable and sound.

It is unusual to find such a striking multi-colored basket of such size and in such wonderful condition. The splint basket, with its wooden handle, is from the Northeast area of the United States, and is done in shades of blue-green, orange-red, and brown.

The basket is 18" long, 12" wide, and 14 " to the top of the handle. Overall condition is excellent, with only one splint split on the interior, not visible from the outside.

A fantastic display or collection piece.

This is a superb, early, and rare Chinese libation cup. The paste itself appears to date from around 1735, while the decoration is most likely from around 1775.

The outside has applied polychrome lotus roots and flowers. Surrounding these are delightful vignettes of houses and boats with fishermen, the whole being further decorated with insects and birds. The interior has two large butterflies, or moths, and flowers. The base is gilded and molded to also resemble a lotus root.

Unusual antique French Limoges gold trimmed porcelain oyster plate depicting different sea grasses. In excellent condition, it measures 9.5" diameter.

NOTE: A very interesting technique was used to create the effect of underwater movement. They 1st printed the image in light green, then printed the same image in dark pink over it, but slightly offset. Where the images overlapped, it created a 3rd color, brown, which establishes the main part of the plant.
