Very fine early Staffordshire child's cup decorated with a pair of colorful roosters. The design was hand-colored over a rudimentary sepia-colored transfer. The pearlware glaze has a wonderful lustre. The bottom edge of the cup is decorated with a molded border.
Origin: England, ca. 1830. Condition: excellent, no chips or cracks, light glaze crazing in interior bottom. Size: 2-7/8" tall; 3-1/8" diameter excluding handle.

Vue d'une Ancienne Abbaye Staffordshire historical plate by Enoch Wood. Circa 1825. This pearlware plate is decorated in a dark blue transfer and is from the "French series." It has a grape vine border and bears on the back the pottery's factory impressed mark WOOD as well as the pattern name in an underglaze blue stamp. Size: 9" diameter. Condition: Very good with a couple of very small pin sized flecks to the glaze and some fine crazing.

English George III era Old Sheffield silver plated meat dome cover with robust gadrooned border and removable cast acanthus leaf-form handle.
The cover is adorned with a full armorial engraved into a plaque of solid sterling silver which has been let into the cover in order to prevent any underlying copper from showing through the engraved family armorial. A folky miniature portrait painting of a young man. With his stylish hairdo, high collar, and patterned vest, and pin, the gentleman exemplifies a dandy of the time. The blue hues in the background provide a striking contrast to the relatively monochromatic tones of the sitter.
The miniature is 2 3/8" by 1 3/4" and is housed in its original 2 1/2" by 2" brass case, which also has a lock of hair in the rear aperture. Condition is excellent, with no cracks, bowing, or paint flaking.
