Lovely antique garden shears, circa 1915. They are silver plate made by the Clauss Co. of Fremont Ohio. They are 6.5" long and 2.5" at their widest (when closed). They have a nice rose motif.

This furniture maker's tool measures 18" long, including the 7-1/2" faceted massive wood handle with brass ferrule and an incised N initial on the handle. Rare ceremonial rice cutter from the Karen people (this particular one is from Northern Thailand). This knife would only be used on the first cutting of the season and as with most all of the rice cultivators in Asia there is a great deal of ritual and importance given to this act, regardless of the religion i.e. Buddhist, animist, Hindu etc. The animal bone handle has a wonderful original patina and the blade is still quite sharp. Circa 60 to 100 years old...
