A canning jar from an early American pottery. H.8.5'x Base Dia.5". This 19th century canning jar (pot) has a rich brown glaze (Albany slip?) and exhibits the simple beauty of traditional functional pottery. It makes a wonderful flower vase.

Pre-Columbian Nayarit male Kokopelli ca. 300 ad, playing a wood rasp drum with a horned helmet, the Kokopelli of the prehistoric southwest was described as a man with a terribly deformed back, bent over playing a flute with magical powers and was able to communicate with the Gods, I believe this is the grandfather of the prehistoric southwest Kokopelli, meaning the legends of the Kokopelli didn't start in the southwest but much further south. Every legend had to start somewhere...

This early pre-classic olmecoid figure dates from approximately 1250 BCE to 800BCE it measures 5 1/2" by 4 1/2".Mineral deposits and root marks. The head has been reattached. The figure was in the collection of Robert Ruark, the highly acclaimed writer and acquired from Arte Primitivo.

Measuring 3" in height, this cast bronze ceremonial knife dates to the period from 700-1000AD, and is from the South Coast of Peru. The upper border consists of a serpent bodied creature with fanged heads at both ends, each wearing a spiked crown. Deeply incised deity heads appear in profile at the top of each side of the blade. The piece has acquired a beautiful blue-green patina. An intact suspension loop is visible at the top,as shown in the photos.

A Veracruz stone yoke circa 250-950 AD in characteristic U-form, the thick implement with polished surface except for the outside. A flat top, the sides tapering slightly downwards. The end of each arm is relief- carved with an ornate pattern of complementary bands and scrolling plumage-like motifs. Remains of a red pigment in a speckled grey-light green stone. This fabulous carved tablet has been attributed to the Chavin culture, Peru and has been dated to 600BC-300BC. It depicts in shallow relief an anthropomorphic zoomorphic figure squatting upon a double bar. Exotic birds, snakes, saurian beasts and fantastical creatures are depicted in a transformational environment. The entire design is bi-symmetrical. This extremely rare Mimbres reed arrow with a foreshaft and a translucent flint point is 35" long. Everything is original including all the sinew and some feather residue. There has been no restoration or repair. It was found in the four corners area on private property. Cached in caves, bows and arrows from the prehistoric Southwest have survived the ravages of time and weather. It dates to around 1100AD. I purchased it from the Bob Rock collection in 1988...

This beautiful Olmec mask is made from semi-translucent jade. It is 3" X 3 1/2". Very deeply defined features. I purchased it from Michael Robbins of Santa Fe in 1989. It has high polish. A very nice authentic piece at a low price.
