A lot of three lovely points in fine hardstones from the private collection of P.F. Wulff. We're selling this very old collection in smaller lots to give everyone a chance to own a small piece of the pre-historic Americas!

The three points carved in scarce translucent hardstone, not silex. Two of them can probably be dated to the 2nd.-1st. millenium BC, but 1 could be much earlier. Very hard material and amazing that they could manage to make such refined artifacts of this size...

Colima Flat Large Female 9 1/2" by 5 1/2" CA. 300 B.C. to 500 A.D. Right leg reattached with break line showing, otherwise intact. This is a very nice early example, showing double pin hole piercing for each eye. She wears a unique head turban that flows continuously from the head wrap to drape over both shoulders. The piece is well shaped and detailed ,with an exceptional lifted and formed butt that is atypical for flats.

Hohokam carved red basalt effigy big horn sheep ca. 650 ad. No Restoration, In as found condition with excellent ground deposits. The Hohokam seemed to use the red basalt for stone ceremonial effigies and objects but the red basalt was harder and rarer for them to find than the black basalt. This is a fine carved effigy of a big horn sheep which the Hohokam prized due to most likely how hard they were to hunt and kill. I would imagine you were at the top of the hunting game to bag a big horn...
