Circa 1470-1532 AD pre-Columbian Inca ritual offering vessel Conopa in the shape of an Alpaca. Hand carved of a black fine grained stone, then polished with sand and water, with a hole in its back called a "qocha" (lagoon)-the container for offerings during the ceremony "haywarisqa" (ceremony of offerings) in which Alpaca fat and blood mixed with coca leaves were presented to the gods.

This unique extraordinarily rare maskette is made from translucent polished woolly mammoth bone with tremendous character. It has a carved hairline and incised cheeks. It is also heavily tallied marked on both inside edges. It is heavily patinated making this an extremely desirable piece. A lot of three lovely points in silex and 1 in a fine translucent hardstone from the private collection of P.F. Wulff found in St. Francis County in Arkansas. We're selling this very old collection in smaller lots to give everyone a chance to own a small piece of the pre-historic Americas!

The hardstone point is probably made in agate and is very beautiful in hand. They can probably be dated to the 2nd.-1st. millenium BC, but 1 could be much earlier...

This hematite Colima miniature effigy axe is 3 1/2" long and was found by the late Dr. Allen Heflin on 12-31-47. It is so inscribed on the back in his distinctive black ink. A superb large example of a hand-built pottery sculpture of a coca chewer (known as a "coquero"), seated upon a four-legged stool.

He sits in an upright pose with bent arms placed on his knees. He has thin legs with broad short feet, and wears a striped sash around his otherwise nude body. The enlarged head features bulging ovoid eyes, a narrow nose, and a horisontal slit as mouth...

A rare large pictorial beaded Iroquois animal whimsey, circa 1890. Depicting what looks like a mythological deer or elk figure. A great folk art piece. One of the largest and most spectacular whimseys known. With a great sculptural relief, and beaded in white, blue, green, copper, light tan, numerous beaded suspensions with tubular beads, sequins. Excellent Condition. 11 1/8" wide; 12 1/2" tall; 15 3/8" tall (w/suspensions).

A larger and very refined La Tolita head. He wears a giant nosering and a cap, in hard burnt stoneware.

A moldmade blackware pottery flask, molded as the face of a 'Sungod' with human features, above a sun symbol and on the backside another sun-symbol or a depiction of the sun with rays. Tall spout protruding from his head. Decorated with starshaped dotted pattern.

A pair of nice Capuli Complex / Narino pottery bowls, Northern Ecuador and Southern Colombia, 8th.-15th. cent. AD.

One of the typical pedestal bowls and a larger round bowl. The Capulí bowls has the distinctive black on dark red decor with rectilinear geometric designs.

This phenomenal 7 3/16" Llama Bone Flute is highly engraved with human effigy carvings with crown or headdress and was recovered in Pisac, Peru near Machu Picchu. It is highly polished. It is so translucent that when backlit with a flashlight, light passes through both sides of the bone. It has beautiful patina. A lot of work and pride went into creating this beauty. I purchased it from Jim Bennett who has written several books on detecting fakes and reproductions.

This is a very rare projectile made from a stingray barb. It is 7 3/4" long. It was found in the Pacific Islands. It has beautiful patina. There is no damage or restoration. It is from the Dr. Raymond Thomas collection. I have only seen two of these in all my years of collecting. The other one is pictured on this site in my bone frame.

Circa 1840-1850. Buffalo hide quiver with traces of red and green pigment. Contains seven arrow shafts, four with metal points. Ash bow with original animal hair and fiber string. Provenance: Mordecai Thomas Bertram (1843-1904) collected c. 1860-1870 on the Sauk and Fox reservation, then descended within the family.
