Antique Chinese scroll painting of a mountain landscape. Rolling hills spotted with trees. A scholarly figure looks out from his hut. A stream flows down the hillside and under a small bridge. All around is a lush growth of various types of plants and trees. A painting with seal of Zhang Daqian (1899–1983) inspired by a landscape painting by Kun Can (1612–1674). Age early 20th century.

Antique Chinese scroll painting by the artist, Ting Hsi Chiang (1669-1732). A pair of colorful kingfisher birds fly amidst the blossoming branches of a white peony bush and delicate sprays of white and yellow daisies Painted in ink and mineral colors on silk. There is calligraphy and a signature with seal in the upper left hand side.

A refined Chinese framed landscape painting showing a view during the evening. The tradition began during the Song Dynasty with literati landscapes. In the succeeding centuries, different artists produced these landscapes echoing poems by Li Bai or Guqin tunes. The landscape painting was done by an artist named, Tzuyue. Antique Chinese scroll of a young beauty with an old man signed Qian Hui An. A young woman stands behind the gate to her home as an old man admires her beauty from outside. It is signed Qian Hui'An (1833 - 1911) 19th century. It measures overall 21.5" x 89.5" the image measures 13.75" x 53.25".

Antique Chinese hanging scroll of a young woman in the garden under moonlight, signed Fei Dan Xu (1802 - 1850) 19th century, Qing dynasty. It measures overall 17.75" x 73", 12.75" x 17.25"

Serene and calm landscape of the mountains with three figures, two men and a boy, sitting by the river bank. There are two inscriptions at the top with seal marks below them. It is mounted on a yellow paper with a medallion pattern. The image measures 17" wide 50.25" long, overall 24" wide 90" long.

Antique Chinese scroll of a rooster with peonies. The rooster is painted naturalistically with white feathers and a grey/blue face with pink peonies in the background. There is a wax seal on a tag, threaded through the scroll. Seal says "Shen Shi " (named Nanpin). Attributed to Shen Quan (Shen Nanpin). It measures overall 19.75" wide by 76" tall, 16" by 52.5".

The artist has represented a standing character, leaning on a broom, with a blissful and amused expression on his face turned towards the sky. This is probably Shih Te, a mischievous young Chinese monk who, according to legend, lived in the Kwo-Ching-Su temple in China during the Tang period around the 9th century. He is always represented with a broom because he was employed in the maintenance of the temple...

Antique Chinese framed painting of the mythological figure Zhong Kui, commander of 80,000 demons, vanquisher of evil spirits, and guardian of households. He appears to be controlling an unhappy looking green demon with a turtle shell, sometimes called Shui Gui. Two small bats fly just next to the calligraphy on the lefthand side, with red chop by the artist.

Gloriously painted rare round fan of Court maiden in garden with peony flowers and bamboo grove, her beckoning gestures alluding to a secret rendezvous. Reverse with gold flecked silk backed paper, encased in a hardwood frame. Faux bamboo hardwood handle. Good condition.

This painting is painted at Okayama castle in 1884, Okayama castle used to be called bird castle due to the colour of the outside wall (black)...

Painting on woven paper. An unusual and surprising technique. The paper is cut out then this woven paper is painted. However there is a subtlety because in some places only the vertical strips are painted and not the horizontal ones which shows us colored squares alternating with unpainted squares which gives a blurred effect anticipating our "pixels" and which, I think, gave the illusion of a woven fabric...
