Beautiful traditional Chinese brush painting of the Buddha mounted on a beige silk scroll, excellent condition. He is sitting on a lotus throne with his right hand raised in the Shuni mudra symbolizing patience and discipline. There is an apocryphal dating of 1845 Buddha’s Birthday, Daoguang reign and signature of Reqin. Mounted size is L: 203cm/80in and W: 78cm/31in- actual painting size is L:131cm/51in and W: 66cm/26in. Circa last quarter of 20th century.

Vintage Chinese wooden stand of irregular shape with carved indentations: judging by their shape the stand was fitted for a carving (most probably jade) of a resting animal. Beautiful dense rosewood with wonderful patina, in excellent condition. Length of the top 2.8 inches, maximum width at the top 1.3 inches, height 0.7 inches.

Fine and rare Yao (also known as Mien) Taoist shaman “yen” chop, used to send messages to the Gods. Reference “The Yao” by Jess Pourret pgs 206 & 207. A wood brush pot was in nice form.
It was well preserved despite the bottom cover was lost and was replaced by an old plank of wood.
The surface was in kind of dry-feel and in pale tint. But I believe it can be transformed easily by rubbing with wood wax and changed to a beautifulcolor.

Antique Chinese bitong (brush pot) carved of hardwood with beautiful grain patterns. The mouth and foot of the container have a fine cusped edge. The bottom is carved with three low feet. The bitong has a pleasing overall shape with a slight flare towards the top.

Chinese hardwood ruyi scepter carved in the shape of a stylized lingzhi. Decorated with writing and designs of fruit, bats, fish, lingzhi mushrooms and other symbols of good fortune. Ruyi scepters were used by the noble class to hold or display as a symbols of power and good fortune and they were used by Buddhist monks in teaching...

Republic period, 1940s or earlier, semi translucent jade brush washer, or possibly a snuff tray, in an unusual oval shape with a small carved flower button in the center. The jade has a lovely soft polished surface which is always rare to find. Color is best described as white jade with a pale celadon tint and, for presentation; we have it resting on a white jade bi from a later date. Both are included in the sale. Oval snuff tray/brush washer only measures: L 5" x D3" x H 5/8"...

Pair lovely vintage bamboo brush pots circa 1960-1980 The surface has been stained a darker color but the patina is a hand polish with no varnish. Excellent condition, with no splits are cracks. H: 14.2cm/5.6in and D: 8.4cm/3.2in.

This is one of 2 hexagonal shaped tea cannisters which I have listed separately. This one has an incised spring scene of two young birds and a butterfly on one side. The other side has 2 sentences from the famous Tang dynasty poem by Lu Tong. The bamboo has darkened considerably with age...

Chinese Bamboo Brush pot, carved design was highlighted with black lacquer ink and filled in, 5 3/8" high, 1 7/8" x 1 3/4" wide-top rim, Ca. before 1920's, incised black decoration of figure under the tropical tree next to bamboo fence. The condition is good.

Lovely double gourd, Dehua porcelain small vase, circa late Qing or Republic Era.. Please note the third enlargement the surface appears to be smudged, this area originally had a handle that broke of and has been polished down. H: 11.3cm/4.4in and D: 6.8cm/2.9in. A charming blue and white peach shaped Chinese water dropper in excellent condition without hairlines or restoration. It features the charming feature of the scholar in garden scene. Circa 1900-10, it measures 3 inches high.

This very well carved brush holder is an early 20th century product. On one side, it depicts six children playing with fire crackers during New Year; on the other side there is a big red character “Fu,” good luck. There are mountain and river scenes on the bottom inside and outside. It is almost 5” high, 4” wide and 3 ½” thick. It is in great condition aside from some old cracks.

This carved walrus tusk bridge of elephants is an early 20th century product. It depicts five elephants in graduating sizes walking toward a large tree and rock. It is 11” long and 4 ½” high (with wood base, it is 5 ¾” high). Aside from repairs to two wood legs on the base, it is in great condition

DESCRIPTION: A fine red and gilt Chinese scholar's ink cake in circular form with the front and back molded in relief in the form of a foo dog (shi shi) with tightly curled mane. Both the front and back have raised Chinese characters in relief. Excellent condition in original box, and dating from the first quarter of the 20th C. or earlier. DIMENSIONS: 2 ¾” diameter (7 cm).

Late Qing Dynasty (pre 1911) Chinese scholar jadeite seal of irregular rectangular shape. Does not photograph well. Wonderful austere piece appropriate for a scholar’s table, pleasant finish to the stone. The bottom is carved with two raised characters, red seal paste in the grooves. Off-white natural untreated jadeite with touch of green and russet skin areas. Imprint of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1. Height 1 11/16 inches.
