This is a collectable Japanese Seto ware mountain tea bowl, excavated and repaired with a gold repair, an aesthetic kintsugi.

The Yamajawan or Yama-Chawan, which means translatet 'Mountain tea bowl', has an ore-like sparkle natural ash glaze. It is for sure a proto-pottery bowl with great reference value.

Seto ware is pottery with the oldest history in Japan...

Kake-fukusa which is used to cover a gift on the occasion of auspicious events. It is made of tapestry weave silk with auspicious omen motifs, pine tree, plum tree with bloom and bamboo. Generally, in good condition except for a rift of the black yarn in the pine tree circle and some stains in the blue ground, and also three holes in the red silk lining in the back. We usually don't buy kimonos but this is a spectacular example of the highest level of yuzen kimono art. Late Meiji Period C.1900 yuzen hand painted chirimen silk girl's kimono. Chirimen silk being the top class of silk used for kimonos. This is a very nice Edo period cotton indigo dyed cotton kimono for children. This is yokote Kasuri.Patterns such as bangasa (umbrella), turtles,willow. There are some stains and some repair marks on the shoulder ridge. However, it is an unused / stored item. The color and scent of indigo dye remains firmly. This is tsutsugaki & handwriting fireman's cotton coat sashiko hanten coat of a splendid firefighter of the late Tokugawa period of the Edo era(1800-1867).It is the pattern that is impressive with a dragon and the boldness of the sword. It is a very high technique. And there is sashiko stitch on the entire surface by hand. As for it, length is longish with 116cm. The lining is indigo dyeing. Antique Japanese tall stone sekitō (pagoda) with five tiers. Made of granite and carved in 9 stacking pieces. The central square section is carved with a seated Buddha on four sides. The top spire is carved with 9 tiers between lotus petals. The surface has a beautiful patina and is covered with areas lichen and moss.

An antique Japanese Shinto Shrine (also known as a Kamidana, Yashiro or Omiya) housing the deities Ebisu and Daikoku. The shrine was made from Hinoki (Cypress) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) while the deities were hand carved from Tsugenoki (Boxwood).

A beautiful 19th century miniature armor with storage box, made for a gogatsu ningyo doll to display on the Boy's day. Made of black lacquered papier-mache, partial with gilt relief decoration of waves, bound together with brown cord ties. Few parts as the maedate made of metal, the fabric is a Japanese brocade. Condition: traces of usage, wear, small chips and few cracks. The menpo is a bit squashed and has losses, one fukigaeshi is buckled. Dimension: yoroi: 30 cm x 16 cm.

This 19th century carved wood netsuke of an Otafuku (traditional female theater character) is 2 ¼” long, 1 ¾” wide and 1” thick. It was made by a well known wood netsuke carver Shuzan; his signature is on the back. Shuzan was the pupil of master netsuke carver Shugetsu. It is in excellent condition.

Antique Japanese small netsuke (inro toggle) carved in the form of a rural house under a large pine tree. The 2 story house, which is visible from three sides has multiple windows and a tiny figure standing in one. The pine tree with exaggerated branches grows on the side of the house, it's branches curving over it's roof. Carved of bone.

A rare set of three Deshima (Scheveningen) small bowls of lobed lotus petal form, two of which have all the elements of the traditional Deshima pattern, cups in this pattern appear to be exceptionally rare in the literature compared with flat wares, and one with a Chinese interpretation of the scene, where the figures and landscape are transposed into Chinese Immortals and a traditional Chinese style landscape, examples of which appear in the Burghley Collection etc...

A pair of antique Japanese Baku corbels hand caraved from solid Keyaki wood. Rare flaming mane design adds a dragon-like fear to wore off evil spirits. Used under the eaves of Japanese temples and shrines, they devour dreams and nightmares as they protect against evil. The open mouth Baku expels all evil while the closed mouth Baku retains the good spirit.

An attractive Arita dish made for export to Europe decorated with conventionalised panels of Hoo birds and Paulonia flowers and stylised Peony flowers inset within an underglaze blue brocade ground to the cavetto, and a central motif of Chrysanthemum. The presence of gilt outlined enamels and colloidal pink in the palette indicate that the plate is from the Kyoho period or slightly later. The plate measures 21 cm or 8.25 inches in diameter and stand 3.3cm, or 1.25 inches high at the rim...

A Buddhist shrine, made for a temple, containing the 8-armed, weapon-bearing goddess Benten; her head adorned with a gilt bronze crown in the shape of a Shinto gate, decorated with birds, sun and moon, and beads. On the top of her head sits the snake-bodied water deity Ugajin. Behind her head a circular mandorla with three flaming jewels. Very old Japanese large size red negoro lacquer wood tray for tea ceremony. It dates from the late Edo / early Meiji Period approx. 150 years ago.
