Two double sided different pages of Persian Safavid poetry. 16th century. Some text faded but all readable. Gold sprinkled borders. The four sides have multicoloured cartouches of poetry interspersed with illuminated triangles in blue red and gold. Each leaf 18.5x11.5 cm. can be viewed in central London and shipped worldwide.
Made of red pottery, covered with a turquoise glaze and black decorations. H. 30 cm. The foot is very wide because this lamp was placed on the sand in the desert. Condition: minor damage to the cup, glaze chips, a firing crack in the foot.
Persian antique khatamkari marquetry chess/backgammon board. Opens to be used as either chess or backgammon board. Made with inlay of many different woods to create decorative and useful intricate patterns. Khatamkari is an ancient Iranian technique of marquetry inlay.

Small antique tribal Persian chanteh (bag). Hand woven of wool in lovely deep indigo blue and brown. A central rectangle of deep blue has six vertical bands of white with
interlocking motifs perhaps of rams horns, a powerful masculine symbol. Framing this is a wide dark brown band which is subtly woven with repeating protective eye motifs. The back of the bag is woven a solid deep brown color. Circa 1900.

A Persian 19th century papier-maché pen box or 'qalamdan', decorated with parrots, flowers,landscapes, portrait medaillions and a breast feeding woman and child.

Hand carved heavy old wooden Quran (aka Koran) Muslin book reader out of Middle East, Central Asia. Reader folds flat when not in use and has extra arm separator for storage of additional pages.
Good patina, some wear marks as expected in an item of this age
An Islamic silver and turquoise pendant, 19th century. The pendant is formed of two hexagonal cylinders hinged together and held rigid by a swinging suspension loop at the top and a hinged bar at the bottom. The front and sides are encrusted with turquoise stones of circular and gul form, the back is engraved with flowers. No maker's mark.
Approximately 8 cm long. Fine condition though the silver has tarnished with age...

This lovely antique Indo Persian box is covered with silver and bronze elaborate damascene work on the top and 4 sides. The box lid is slightly domed and the inside is lined with wood. Made in what was Persia, now Bidar India, this box dates to the early part of the 19th century, and is an fine example of Damascene metal work. A fine collection of Persian armor and weapons, which includes the "Khulah-kud" (helmet). With its original ziggurat fringe chainmail, engraved nose guard, and gilt pointed finial. Fashioned with decorative mounts for plumes or feathers. The helmet is damascened in gold with Koranic text and arabesque floral, and bird motif.

Elaborately incised with Islamic inscriptions and arabesques within three cartouches wrapping the body. The base is flat and unmarked. The was raised from heavy sheet silver with the hammer marks being clearly visible on the interior. The exterior has a soft polish with a few areas of old tarnish / oxidation. As would be expected, there are no silver markings, but it is probably in the low 900s...
Good condition, lovely wear and patina. Weight 287 gr. Diameter outside 7,5 cm , inside 5,5 cm. Early 20th century.
