Qing Dynasty opium den lamp made with burner bowl. This style lamp was used to illuminate Chinese opium dens and was often their only source of lighting. These lamps were also used to heat the opium tar housed at the end of a long opium pipes. The burner bowl is stoneware with the inside glazed to hold the oil and wick (wick is new). The base for the burner is made of split bamboo. Opium lamps made of wood are extremely hard to find...
Chinese Green Porcelain Pen or Brush Holder. The green glaze has an "oil on water" effect and gives an excellent impression. The shape of a table makes it rare and interesting. This is a fantastic example of an early bronze dagger blade with handle rivets still present and intact. This type was common to large areas of the Middle East from present day Greece across to Iran. It has a triangular blade with prominent midrib and a very short, flat tang. The patina is a gorgeous mixture of greens and browns with a hint of blue. Unusual 19th century Japanese mixed metal scroll weight in a form of a karako (Chinese boy) standing on one knee with the other one up, wearing a rich robe and a collar. Could have been used as a brush rest as well. Dynamic posture, pleasantly heavy bronze with gilding on the collar and robe, intricate textile designs on the robe superbly inlaid with silver, excellent depiction of his chubby face with a slight smile. This silver box, of lobed medallion form, has a hinged lid decorated with geometric and floral repousse work in prominent relief. The sides are incised with floral elements with a caligraphic cartouche in the front. The base is also incised with a floral design surrounded by a band of small repeating triangles. The entire box is fashioned from solid sheet silver. There is some wear and light tarnish.

Two baskets are being offered here and both are from the Northeast, most probably from the Penobscot of Maine. They are lidded, made of splint ash, and use natural dyes of green and orange.
Basket 1, although it has a square base, is 14 3/4" in diameter and 11 1/2" in height. They are about 3 smallish splint breaks as shown in the photos, but the basket is structurally sturdy.
Basket 2 has a medial sweetgrass braid and a dyed interior. The 4 3/4" in diameter and 2 1/2" in height.
Greek terracotta figurine portraying a nursing woman. Such a depiction is considered a kourotrophor: a protector or nurturer of children. She is wearing a chiton and a veil and she is nursing a naked boy. Late Etruscan / Italian, ca. 5th.-4th. century BC.

Condition: Choice! With repaired crack at the lower part and still with it's pigment and encrustations preserved.

From our Chinese Blue and White Collection, a fine Qianlong Period (1736-1795) sauce tureen base of rectangular form with chamfered corners, depicting a gentleman with ladies on a fenced terrace pavilion along with a flowering tree, surrounded by an intricate border design of cash diaper motifs, key frets, and flower sprigs, all executed in deep blue upon a body of dense 18th century export porcelain.

19th century netsuke of bronze Okame musk inside an old shallow donbury bowl. The subject symbolizes good fortune, happiness and joy. Beautiful metalwork, marine material bowl wonderfully imitating an old wooden bowl with its age imperfections, metal swinging loop on the back for hanging. Great patina, accumulated dust on the surface. Diameter 1 5/8 inches.
This round inkstone was carved out of a naturally occurring layered stone...both the bottom and cover viewed from the side show the striation of the stone.The covered has a pond design etched with raised koi fish. It is really lovely. The inkstone is just over 4 inches in diameter and .8 inches in height.

Very large, measuring 7" long, old Cambodian betel nut container nicely crafted in the form of a turtle. Made from a low-grade silver, it is in very good antique condition, no cracks, no repairs, etc. Measures 7 inches long and 3.5" high. Marked PH
