Unusual Japanese Kiri (paulownia) tansu with 8 drawers and a lift away panel opening to a shelved interior with spacious room. The 8 front drawers feature small round locks and warabite pulls. Original finish and condition.

Beautiful Antique Japanese Temple carving made from solid Keyaki (hardwood). Very well carved with fine details. Celestial maidens dancing among flowing clouds and waves. Very Heavy in Weight Edo Age, Possibly 18th Century.

Japanese ikebana (flower basket) used in tradition ikebana flower displays. Beautifully natural finish of split bamboo and gnarled wisteria branch each twisting and blending into a full moon. Condition is very good. Includes copper insert (may allow to be used for flowers).

Antique Chinese cloisonné round container with enamel floral and "Shou" designs. The top of the lid has a round, flat jade finial. The inside top and bottom of the container has a center lotus design with inlaid metal scrolling vine patterns upon light blue enamel. Republic Period (Circa 1912) Size: 7.5" height, 11" width

Antique Japanese box made with mixed metal, iron, and leather components with a handle woven with wood, iron studding along its sides, and a removable lid with a small iron handle. It may have been used to store and transport a multitude of items as Japan began to modernize their technology. Circa 1900 Size: 10" height, 9.75" width

Antique Chinese cloisonne box decorated with a beautiful floral pattern of chrysanthemums, peonies, and other flowers. The lid of the box is hinged, it has an auspicious symbol in the middle of the box. The box is supported by four small round metal feet, the underside is sky blue. The interior of the box is lined with wood and has two compartments. Republic Period (Circa 1912) It measures 5.75" deep 4" tall 9.25" wide.

This small hand carved wooden container would have been used to store smoking tobacco, and would have been worn hanging from a belt the same as a Japanese inro. Although similar types of containers would have used by both traditional Han Chinese and ethnic minority Chinese, this particular container is definately traditional Han Chinese. One side has a carved scene of a bird and branch, the other side has written characters...

Japanese woodblock print by renowned woodblock artist Yoshitoshi (1839-1892) , depicting a young giant Mushashibo Benkei, nicknamed Onikawa, crouched over a pool of water, waiting to attack the giant carp he discovered had eaten his mother. This Qing Dynasty cloisonne box dates late 19th to pre-1910. Exhibiting a beautiful patina, the box is composed of brass with copper on the exterior. In excellent condition and a real visual pleasure, the box measures 3"x 4”.

This early 20th century Japanese Mokugyo (Buddhist wood drum) is 6 ½ inches long, 5 ½ inches wide and 4 ¼ inches high. It is signed ¡°Gyokurin¡±. It came with a square 8 ½ inch red cushion and a wood mallet (quite possibly, it is a replacement). It is in good condition.

Japanese 2 section kimono tansu. Made with Kiri (paulownia) wood, all natural finish. The upper section holds 8 drawers, which is considered an auspicious number. The bottom section contains 2 drawers with warabite pulls mounted on pierced metal plates. The piece also contains a secret hidden compartment beneath the bottom drawer.

Taisho period (1912-1925)

This superb ivory carving of Guan Yin is an early 20th century product. It is 12 ¼” high (wood base is not included), 2 ¾” wide (from bottom) and 2 1/8” thick (from bottom). It depicts Guan Yin (goddess of mercy) holding a young child. The laughing child carries a lotus blossom and leaf.
