Korean medium sized sword gently curved blade, leather-wrapped handle with chased brass cuff, blackened wooden scabbard with handle thread wrapped and the blade handle with leather wrapping. It’s in good condition with aged patina original scabbard and wrapped handle. It is in fair condition with its use and age, it measures Overall:72cm, sword and shealth:66cm and only blade: 33cm.

Antique Japanese samurai doll of the epic hero Yoshitsune Minamoto. Seated with one foot forward, wonderful suit of armor, fantastic face with glass eyes and wonderful heroic expression, long hair gathered in the back. Size: 25" high

Antique Chinese jadeite carving of two identical furry critters, possibly foxes, curled together in a yin yang fashion. The jadeite has parts that are a glowing lavender with muted green areas. The carving is pierced through and may be worn as a pendant. Size: 2" width, .75" thickness

Small cast bronze tripod incense burner. Beautiful finish. The two handles are in the shape of Buddhist lions heads. Qing Chinese. The bottom of the feet slightly flared would rather suggest a Japanese Edo creation but without certainty. Dirty. Width 65mm

War fan, gunbai uchiwa, made of bronze clad wood, in the shape of a butterfly. In low relief on front and back the text Hachiman Daibosatsu, surrounded by generic family crests in the shape of quinces. Hachiman is a war deity. These fans were traditionally handled by samurai commanders to direct his troops in battle. It is also a symbol of power. Japan, Meiji era, late 19th century.

Japanese antique okimono of a group of 3 frogs. The younger frog sits on a larger frog's back while one frog is separate. Carved of sugi (cryptomeria) wood with reverse painted glass eyes.
Frogs are considered symbols of luck in Japanese culture and are used widely in poetry and art. The word for "frog" (kaeru) in Japanese also means "return" which is why small sculptures of frogs are sometimes carried by travelers as a way to make sure they return home safely from their journeys...

Three Japanese Jyokan (ladies-in-waiting) hina dolls are a part of the hina doll set displayed for the Hina Matsuri Festival, Japanese Girls Day in March, also called the Peach Festival. This day is reserved for the girls of the family wishing for their well-being for the coming year. Late Meiji to Taisho period, early 1900’s.

When the peach blossoms start to open by breaking through the snow from February to March, it is the announcement of the arrival of spring...

Charming bronze figure of the reclining Buddha. This stage depicting the death of his body and his attainment of the realm of his true self and ultimate enlightenment is called Mahaparinirvana. A cute dog Fushimi doll. The dog has an interesting collar possibly in the form of a fabric collar, often seen with domesticated animals portrayed in Japanese paintings. Fushimi dolls were created as dolls made for pilgrims visiting the Fushimi Inari Shrine. Age: Meiji-Taisho Period Size: length 9.25" Width 3" Height 9"

"Silver" hallmarks on the bottom of the saucers. Cups have gold-plating interiors. Probably Meiji Period. Size: Saucer: 8.5 cm diam. Cup: 5.2 cm diam. Condition: Very good. Some oxidized wear.

19th century miniature Hirado porcelain sculpture of a reclining karako (Chinese boy) leaning on his right hand. Excellent crisp modeling with incised details - see his superb dreamy face, well defined hands and clothing details. Beautiful glaze with numerous tiny bubbles giving it depth, unglazed bottom. The line seen on the left side of his face is not a repair, but an original firing crack that got filled with glaze during firing, very pleasant to the touch...

Chinese Qing dynasty ink and color on paper vertical framed painting of three children flying a kite outdoors. The unsigned painting appears to date from the 19th century. The frame size is 52” x 18” (painting: 42 1/2” x 11 1/4"). There is old damage, wear, and soiling visible. Framed in Tucson in the 1990s in a deep, substantial handmade black lacquer moulding. The painting is framed with glass. Purchased in the 1990s from an old Arizona collection.

Lovely 13th Century Korean Celadon Chrysanthemum and Bullocho Bowl. The chrysanthemum is a Korean symbol of plenty, as represented by its many petals. The mythical bullocho plant is an ancient symbol of longevity. 4.5 inches (11.5cm) wide by 1.5 inches (4cm) high.
