Hand engraved and fully hallmarked for London, England 1882, this 3-3/4" mug features a leaf and floral design on both sides (both slightly different). It has an unidentified maker's mark and a 353/0 pattern number on the bottom. It retains traces of the original internal gilding and it weighs 155 grams. It has a fancy monogram of GETC. This is han-jyuban in Edo period(1800-1867). Silk tsumugi itajime of the safflower dye is an arabesque motif in the lion. The shoulder surrounding is scenery of the travel (Tokaido) in Edo period. The katazome is very exact and beautiful. The material of katazome is wool. There are a little color variation and a small hole. The state is very good. Lozenge-shaped gilt bronze plate, embossed to represent a concentric decoration of stylized lotuses and geometric design with, at the center, a coral intaglio in relief representing the Hindu God Ganesha. Height: 2 3/8" (6,1 cm), length: 3 11/16" (9,3 cm). The plate is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand. Beautiful green and reddish partly encrusted patina. Very good condition. A rare piece.

Made of silk, the lower part embroidered with flowers in satin stitch, the upper part with brocaded silk ribbons. Cotton lining and soles. Condition: fine, only little wear.
