Very fine gilt wooden Burmese Nat with elaborate dress, inlaid with many sparkling mirror pieces. The figure is in a protective position with hands guarding off evil spirits. The Nat's name is "Amay Yay Yin", meaning "Mother Yay Yin" and she conquered the river. Thus, people who travel by water, revere her to protect them from danger. Terrific American majolica dish in the form of a fish. The painting on this example is especially nice, with very lifelike colors. The modeling is very crisp and clean. The back has a decorator's mark, but no maker's mark. It is possibly a product of Griffin, Smith & Hill. Perfect condition. Circa 1880. 7-1/2" x 10".

The interior is washed with a pale green milk paint and has three shelves in the upper portion and storage space in the bottom. Two door panels have age cracks to the wood. This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in the US by the Ceramic Arts Company Belleek, later known as Lenox, between 1889 and 1896. The saucer has a diameter of 4 1/8 inches and the cup is 1 1/2 inches high. The porcelain is extremely thin and is molded with a surface similar to a golf ball. The cup has a cute ring handle and little ball feet. The porcelain has an ivory hue. It is hand decorated with trailing vines and flowers painted in raised gold enamel...

Our C1780 muff chain has an unusual link in the shape of bows. These hand forged bow links continue all around the chain. Georgian muff chains were worn by women who would attach a muff to the chain to conveniently keep their hands warm and the chain was designed to allow the muff to fall at just the right place. This is why original muff chains were always long (shorter chains were generally part of a larger muff chain that has been cut down to make 2 or 3 necklaces)...

A collection of a large porcelain peach and two citron (Buddha Hand) porcelain fruit. Such ceramic fruits were used to decorate a family alter when worshiping ones' ancestors. The peach measures about 4 1/4" long. The citrons measure 3 3/4" long and 4 1/2" long. The condition of all three fruit is excellent. All three pieces date to the late 19th Century.
