Rare Kiyomizu Nodate Summer tea bowl with fantastic hand-painting, made during the Japanese Meiji Period (1868-1912).

This summer bowl is in great condition with no chips or cracks.

Rare Zo/Tedem "tawnok"- reference "The Art of the Zo: Philadelphia Museum of Art". The Tedum aka Tiddim are a subgroup of the Chin, who live mostly in Northern Burma, Chin State, as well India, and Bangladesh. This piece is circa 1950-1960, spun from commercial, hand dyed cotton thread with some single faced supplementary and diamond twill patterns. Decorated with a flower medallion in the center and lotus petal on the outside. W=10 cm. Early Ming 1368-1398. Condition : excellent, no chips, cracks, hairline or restoration.

A small lidded jar or bowl, Kangxi period, c 1700. Clobbered in iron red, green, black and gilt over the original under-glaze blue decoration, for the European (Dutch?) market. The base with an “Asian” seal mark in iron red. Height, including lid "2¾/ 7 cm. Condition: the lid with some rubbing to the gilt, otherwise fine.

A wonderful example of an original Japanese Armored Safe chest. Constructed of hand selected and quartered sawn keyaki (zalkova hardwood) and hand forged iron hardware / fittings. Thick hinged door opens to reveal 4 individual drawers with secret compartment located under the largest (bottom) drawer. Internal drawers are made of original light kiri (paulownia) wood.

A Mt. Washington scalloped rim bowl decorated with orchids. The 3 3/4 inch diameter, 2 3/4 inch tall satin finish bowl has subtle diagonal ribs and a polished pontil mark. The color shades from pale lavender on the flared rim to colorless at the bottom. The coloration appears similar to the bowl shown in plate 10-17 on page 243 in Wilson’s “Mt Washington & Pairpoint Glass” and the decoration matches that on the sugar shaker in plate 10-18 of the same book.

A good early 18th Century syle meiping form vase decorated with prunus blossom against a "cracked ice" ground. On the base is the six character reign mark of the Kangxi emperor (1662 - 1722) but this item was made later - during the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875 - 1908). Condition - excellent. No damages and no restoration...

A Stunning Sterling Silver Coffee Pot by Bigelow and Kennard (Boston 1863-1923) in a highly intricate ribbed design. Circa; 1890-1900. Dimensions; 8.75" high; weight 17.5 traditional, 15.9 Troy ounces. Excellent condition.

Late Meiji period (1890s to 1912) Japanese wooden kushi (hair comb) with carved and lacquered design on different reserves containing origami toys and flowers. Beautifully made out of dense wood allowing for fine teeth, very good lacquering, wonderful work in Japanese taste, overall in excellent condition. Length 4.25 inches.

Depicting a Tirthankara surrounded by consorts, elephants and figures in seated posture. The shrine is inlaid with copper and silver. A very dine piece from Gujarat. H. 15 cm (6 inch). Provenance: private collection Belgium.

Japanese Nanga sumi-e ink scroll painting on silk depicting a scene of two men in a boat entitled "Water Cloud Mountain Pavilion". A scholar and a young man sit in a boat, the scholar has an open book, the young man, a pole. Between them is a handled box. A jagged out cropping of rock rises from the water where stunted trees stretch their branch over the water...

A wonderful sculturel stone figure, Andes, perhaps Recuay culture, 1st. mill. AD.

The very expressive figure shows a human figure holding another smaller human figure below, perhaps a child...

White glaze covering to foot rim , unglazed base. Diameter = 21.5 cm Period : 14 th-15 th Century. Very good condition, two small frittings, no cracks, no hairlines and free from restoration.

A kangxi style blue and white Bogu vase in good condition

 

Antique Japanese small lacquer tebako (accessory box) with image of a crane standing on the bank of a lake or stream. Looking up at the crane from the swirling water, is an ancient turtle. A pine tree and fruit tree grow on the hillside behind the crane. Fine gold maki-e lacquer with dense gold nishiji on a black lacquer ground. The interior of the box is entirely covered in gold nishiji. The rim of both the bottom and lid of the box is edged in silver...

Chinese antique monochrome porcelain incensor with round squat body on three legs. The red oxblood glaze transitions to white around the short neck and flares slightly. Thick drips on the underside of the body. The copper content of the glaze is evident in green colored drippings on the inside of the lip.
