Tea leaf storage jars used in Japan like this were produced in and out of Japan from about the 15th century onwards. I wish I could say that this is one of the famous Muromachi Era "nanban" wares from the Phillipines or Southern China that are so prized by Japanese tea ware collectors, but it is one of the replica items made up through the Meiji Era in Seto, Japan. Still, the Japanese kept the traditional shape and produced many fine chatsubo in their own right...

The dark grey paste makes this dish to a very rare example of an Longquan Guan-type dish. Southern Song Dynasty ( 1127 - 1279 ). The shallow dish with sloping sides, everted rim, and fourteen-lobed mouth rim is covered in a crackle-suffused glaze of sea-green color that thins on the edges. The dark grey stoneware body has turned to a reddish brown color where exposed in the firing. Diameter: 16,2 cm. Condition: Perfect.

A small Korean lidded burial jar from the Silla Dynasty, United Period, 8/9th Century. The jar has an overall stamped design, and shows kiln glossing over its otherwise unglazed exterior. Ca. late 1700s

These cups all have slightly flaring sides and are well-potted with thin rims. The sides are decorated with a repeating floral design in underglaze cobalt blue. The bases are glazed and the narrow footrings are unglazed, exposing the fine, white porcelain body. A hairline crack can be seen on the one of the cups, approximately one inch long, otherwise they are in good condition.
