It has a deep, round shape and is supported by a short foot. The rim is everted and cusped.

This tall pottery figure was made during the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25 - 220) and has been excavated from Sichuan province. Such figures are usually referred to as farmers, although during this period Sichuan farmers were also called upon by their masters to become soldiers when required. This figure holds in his left hand a long sword, and in his right hand a shield. There is also a short knife attached to his belt...

Nabeshima hard porcelain dish. Okawachi kilns. Decoration in underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze enamels. Although the model already exists at the beginning of the 18th century, we do not believe that the dish presented here is authentic. The enamels are perfect, one can distinguish with a magnifying glass discreet wear of use and the enamels show age cracks, but the cobalt blue on the reverse is too pale. It is not a modern copy, as it has been in the Sakura collection for about forty years...

A fine antique walnut corner cabinet with beautiful warm patina - though I suspect that it has been refinished somewhere along the road. Wood shelves; dentil molding; wood pegs still present; brass hinges, and closing clasps added. Double doors top and bottom. The feet have been cut somewhat. This is an authentic example from the Qijia culture, dating to 2100-1600 BCE, of a well-known type of ritual axe, known as a "Yue." It measures 4" in length and 3-3/8" at its widest point (10cm X 8.5cm). The surface has a beautiful, smooth polish; the "blade" has a beveled edge and has been sharpened, although it shows no signs of actual use. The large hole has been conically drilled. A Chelsea ecuelle and cover, fulsomely painted with fancy and aquatic birds. Applied flowers and leaves decorate the bases of the twig handles, while the uncommon (but original) knop on the lid is a beautiful flower painted in three colors. Rare handmade askos of lenticular body and truncated conical neck.
The lip around the spout is shaped as an oversized disc. Its back was bent by the potter to create space for an unusual ring handle of square cross-section.
