Early 18th century tea bowl and saucer, decorated in "imari" style in under glaze blue and over glaze iron red, depicting four-clawed dragons amongst cloud scrolls in pursuit of flaming pearls. This item was made for export to Europe during the reign of the Yongzheng emperor (1723-1735). Condition - there is a 0.6 inch (1.5 cm) hair line running from the saucer dish rim (see enlargements 5 and 6); there is the usual rim fritting and there is wear to the over glaze gilding...

A rare wine ewer, with warming pot, depicting the famous Tang Dynasty "drunken" poet Li Bai (701 - 762), with one of his best known poems and another inscribed on the warmer. Both poems are signed by the same calligrapher. This item carries the reign mark of the Tongzhi emperor (1862 - 1874)but was probably made a little later during the Guangxu reign (1875-1908). Condition - there are chips to the edges of the warmer (please see enlargement 1)...

A rare, finely decorated, late Ming twin-handled bronze vase which still retains traces its original gilding. The vase carries the six character reign mark of the Xuande emperor (1426-1435) but this item was made later during the 16th or early 17th Century - possibly during the reign of the Wanli emperor (1573-1619). A pair of very nice old lotus shoes with quilted vamp, delicate stitching, and floral embroidery. 19th C/20th C. In excellent condition. The shoes have never been worn before and even are still stitched together.

A refined image of the deity Amitayus, known as the Buddha of infinite light in many pureland texts including the Sukhavativyuha Sutra. The central Amitayus image is surrounded by nearly a hundred or so other Amitayus images reflecting a concept found in Vajrayana and Mahayana texts of how a Buddha or Bodhisattva can be found in many locations simultaneously. The thangka contains a blessing with hand imprints and a mantra in the Bru-sha script to invoke the deity...
