This a rather rare subject Netsuke made during the 19th century, in Japan, that depicts a rat that is gnawing at a large radish, on top of a straw rice scoop. The rat and radish are made from Sentokudo, a bronze alloy, that has acquired a dark patina with the passage of time. The ring at the bottom of the rice scoop serves as himotoshi. Unsigned.
Netsuke measures 1.46 inches (3.7cm) wide, 1.68 inches (4.2cm) long, and 0.25 inches (6mm) thick. It is in excellent preserved condition.

Japanese half section Mizuya or kitchen buffet tansu. Constructed of Hinoki (cypress) and Sugi (cedar) wood. The piece opens by two large front sliding panels to the large interior with 2 recessed shelves. The sides of the chest have horizontal bracing slats for reinforcement.

A hexagonal Chinese covered dish, decorated in overglaze
enamels win the Famille Jaune pallette. The motifs seen in the shaped collar
(in the form of a ryui fungus) around the lid are Buddhist precious objects.
the flowers are those usually found on such porcelains and include hawthorn
(prunus), lotus, orchid, peony, chrysanthemum, etc. The mask handles on the

Lovely fine Chinese bronze mirror, scalloped edge with raised designs of stylized dragons chasing flaming pearls, central raised loop for attachment, an old silk tassle attached, the mirror side with pitting and varied color, including a deep rust red.
Measures 3 3/8" diameter.
