Ritual dagger ("phurpa") formerly used by a shaman during ceremonies. The phurpa is made of wood, and is decorated in relief from top to bottom with three deities heads surmounted by a point, above geometric designs of chevrons and knots, themselves on top of the three blades decorated with snake design in relief. This antique pipe has burl wood bowl with silver filling (one ring missing) and a horn mouthpiece which has obviously been well used. There are a few short residual threads from what was probably originally a tassel.
It is a wonderful ethnographic relic of folk art.
A beautiful glass vase with 'chariot decor', made most likely by Moser. The vase is 8 1/4 inches (21 cm) tall and 6 inches (15 cm) wide at the top. It is in good condition (some flea-bites at bottom-rim from usage). The vase is artist-signed, Brandt'. Unsigned, but made most likely by Moser - usage of gold and platinum in the decor is a particular Moser trait.
Beautiful set of jeweled glass finger-bowl and under-plate, made most likely by Moser. The bowl is 5 1/4 inches (13,5 cm) wide and 2 1/4 inches (6 cm) high. The under-plate is 5 3/4 inches (14 cm) wide and 3/4 inches (2 cm) high. Both are in fine condition (some expected usage scratches on under-plate). Unsigned, as expected.

Lovely black lacquer Japanese vase with 2 crickets. On the back side is a red dot (2 gold dots are on the front), a very interesting and subtle design element. Note in the photos, there is some minor chipping around base. Measures: 8.5" high, 4.25" across shoulder.
Japanese red lacquer on wood and brocaded Silk Obi Fabric top Folding Stand, 17 1/2" high, 18" wide, 14 1/2" deep-maximum(when opened), and 24" high, 14 1/2" deep(when closed), later part of Meiji period early 1900's, silk fabric has no open seam, all one(1) piece of silk Obi fabric, woven for this stand when it was made. The eight(8) metal caps have impressed design. There are some dull lacquer area from the usage but no damage.

A black lacquered papier mâché wine coaster, the sides enhanced with an unusual gilt pattern of stylized grape leaves and tendrils along with thistles. The decoration is in excellent condition, with a nice warm patina.

This is a well done and rather large Japanese Cloisonne Jar. It is done in the Kyoto style and decorated with three phoenix birds. The piece is stoutly made with thick rims and is quite heavy. The artist we are not sure but the mottled enamel used may point towards Honda. The piece is in excellent condition with just a tiny loss of enamel on the underside of the lid where the knob is attached. It stands 8 1/2 inches.

A Gorham sterling silver miniature chamber stick or candle holder dated 1891. This Victorian era ornate chamberstick stands 1-5/8" high and it measures 3-3/8" across the base. It is stamped with the lion/anchor/G mark, along with STERLING 181 and the year cypher for 1891. Although a dainty size, these small candle holders sat on a writing deak or in a travel writing desk, as they had the practical use of melting sealing wax for an envelope or document. A well potted round covered box with underglaze blue decoration and extensive gilt outlining of the pattern of a bird in a bush. The Meissen crossed swords mark on the bottom is typical of the late 19th century. There is also in underglaze blue the number 46, which is probably the identification of the painter of the scene. Height 2 ½ inches, diameter 3 ½ inches (6 by 9 centimeters).

Rare blue sharkskin porcelain tea caddy with a bird, flowers, and butterflies. The bird and butterflies are glossy and do not have the sharkskin texture giving this piece a beautiful contrast which was not an easy feat for the artist to achieve. The blue background graduates from light at the bottom to darker shade of light blue at the top. Signed and in excellent condition, it measures 6 inches tall with lid on.
A 'bronze' censer (copper zinc alloy with iron impurities) with a six character Ming dynasty Xuande reign mark (1426-1435) to the base but this item was made later, probably during the late Qing dynasty (circa 1890-1910).

This is Japanese porcelain vase from one of the great Meiji artists. It is signed Kawamoto Hansuke. The vase has a wonderful stout shape and is very heavy. It has what appears to be several firing flaws or just an unusual design to several of the flowers. The vase measures 7 1/4 tall and is 7 1/2 inches wide.
A properly dressed Chinese woman would wear a pair of leggings to cover her lower legs from the bottom of her skirt to the top of her lotus shoes. The leggings would be tied into place with a hand woven sash made specifically for that purpose. These lotus shoe accessories are now rare and very hard to find. See my listing TC236 and ZTC233.
This pair of leggings are purple satin weave fabric with ribbon and silk embroidered trim at the cuffs. There is some ares of fade on the basic fabric.
