Heavy pigment on thickly veined gold creates a powerful collection of scenes from the Taiheiki, the 11th century story of the fall of the courtiers and usurpation of power by two military families, the Taira and the Genji. The screen dates to the 18th century, or middle Edo period. Many old repairs attest to age. We have had it completely remounted, with no painting restoration performed. On the left the famous scene of shooting a fan from horseback from the battle of Yajima...

Entirely hand-wrought in a style that brings to mind early Matilde Poulat pieces this is a monumental, early Mexican Deco bracelet. Comprised of four curved links, it resembles a hinged bangle more than a link bracelet because it holds its shape firmly when you have it on - just like a bangle would. There is no way I could ever exaggerate the depth and complexity of its repousse - this is astonishing work, immaculately executed, having a patina that lends more drama and depth to it...

Bold, confident repoussage and fantastic oxidation that has been enhanced with the patina of years past, this is a big Margot de Taxco figural brooch in a design that doesn't surface very often. A rather unusual Peruzzi Boston sterling silver cuff bracelet with fantastic patina and truly fun to wear! Unlike most of the designs that the Peruzzi Family is known for, this piece veers away from the Renaissance Revival themes to explore more "ethnic", tribal or even gypsy style motifs. The extensive beading, protruding appliques along the face and the musical dangles hanging off its lower perimeter bespeak its earthiness and "exotic" flair...
