When it comes to hinged bangle bracelets, I think the Los Ballesteros taller was probably the most creative of the Taxco workshops. Their designs range from the more traditional to the slickest mod and they are usually adorned with spectacular gems or hard stones. The minimalist yet visually substantial example at hand boasts four clear amethysts nested in dramatically raised crown settings. Iconic vintage, hand wrought sterling silver cuff bracelet designed and signed circa 1940's by American & Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling. Signed, authentic Matilde Poulat earrings that bear the early hallmark of cursive plaque Matl. The design focus is the S motif that is found somewhere and someplace in most of her designs. Length is 2in. long x 1.25in. wide. There is no damage. These were changed to pierced but the owner was quite smart and kept the original backs with the set so there is no perceived value lost. The stones are warmed turquoise and are beautifully set.

An example of hallmarked Mexico Silver which was made very early in Mexico City. The puffy repousse is gorgeous on this pectoral and is expertly carved. The small S links form the chain and are quite elegant. The stone in the center is 1in. across being amethyst and has no chips or damage. With the length being approximately 16in. long and the drop is 3.5in. across by 2.5in. tall you can see that this is a very nice size to wear anywhere...

Taxco 980 Mexican Silver necklace with an Amethyst center ball of .75in. in diameter spark off this heavy 90 gram beauty. The chain is 1in. and the drop measures 2.25 in diameter and the same tall. Vintage sterling silver hinged pill box designed and signed circa 1920-30's by Mexico artist Frederick Davis.(1880-1961). Box measures 2 1/8"L. X 3/4"W. X 3/4"H. The box is designed with a tiny notch on the upper right corner for opening. Hallmarked on the bottom with the Davis cojoined FD 925. Beautiful condition. Davis designs are featured in the permanent 20th Century Mexican Silver collection at LACMA - Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
