Japanese limited-edition abstract sosaku hanga woodblock print by Hideo Hagiwara (1913-2007) titled "Bird." The print is pencil-signed, dated '58, and numbered 5/30 on the bottom margin. This print is an example of a reverse printed image on fine, transparent, slightly crinkled paper that is characteristic of his early work. Iconic sterling silver and amethyst owl brooch designed and signed circa 1940's by American & Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). The pin stands 2 1/2" tall X 2" wide. Weighs 30 grams. Each amethyst is bezel set and surrounded by a deep channel giving the owl eyes a 3 D effect. Both silver and stones are in beautiful condition. Pin back and safety lock work perfectly.
