Description:

A decent wood stand was well structured by precious Zitan and burl wood.
Framed by a unique species of Da-Yei Zitan, and panelled with burl wood board in the center, the wood stand was reinforced in the underside with lacquered cotton cloth.
Strong and sound, the wood stand was yielded on the surface with darken patina.

Date: late 19th century.

A very rare wood panel, covered with a white ground and decorated with a painting of a bodhisattva. This panel was found in a cave temple in the Dunhuang mountains in the Gansu Province. We acquired a group of six panels from a Dutch collector who bought the panels in China in the 1980's. Dimensions: 55x22 cm. Tang Dynasty (618-906).Wooden objects from this period are quite rare.

Established in 1924 this school added "District" to the name in 1953 and amalgamated in 1968 to become the John Diefenbaker Secondary School. This 5/8 x 9/16" wide ring features the school crest with yellow and cobalt blue enamel, which doubtless are the school colours and it also has their school motto "ENTER TO LEARN GO FORTH TO SERVE"...
