This is a finely potted Song dynasty (960 – 1276AD) Yaozhou Persimmon hexafoil glazed cup. It has a gently rounded sides rising from a straight foot to an everted hexafoil rim, covered overall in a lustrous with a scattered iridescent persimmon glaze. A Han Dynasty terra cotta horse head with a very animated expression. The pottery horse which symbolises speed and perseverance are buried along with the dead royalty and generals as funeary objects. It is a status symbol to be buried with pottery horses and horse head. The horse head is painted with white slip paint with red paint showing as the harness on the horse head.

The horse head has abrasion, wear and tear due to the long period of burial. Otherwise it is in good condition.
