A set of five E-Karatsu Mukozuke by Nakazato Tarouemon XIII enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Radically brushed birds rise up into the sky, framed by a vertical bars of iron; inside soft earthen white. Each is roughly 3 inches (8 cm) diameter, 2-1/2 inches (6.5 cm) tall and in excellent condition, bearing the Tarouemon three star mark on the base.

Classic and Momoyama inspired chaire in Oni-Shino style with a wide array of textures, varied coloration and a simple reed/pampas grass decoration carved through an iron-rich slip under a thick feldspathic glaze. The use of varying thicknesses of the Shino glaze not only accentuates the form but creates a moody and atmospheric appearance like mist clinging to a lakes edge. Classical Iga vase by noted master Japanese potter; Kishimoto Kennin (b.1934). This vase, based on Momoyama and early Edo Iga archetypes, has varying hues of natural green ash about the top portion of the vase which also cascades down the side and forms wonderful bidoro rings around the mouth and shoulder. Though a thoroughly Iga pot, the clay body is actually wonderful Shigaraki clay with a healthy amount of feldspar inclusions.

Clusters cling to the bottom of this heavily encrusted small bottle scorched black and off kilter which must have become lost in the embers by Osako Mikio enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Ko-tsubo. It is roughly 8 cm (3-1\4 inches) diameter, 9.5 cm (4 inches) tall and in excellent condition.

Evocative blue decorated henko bottle vase with fluid brush decoration and sgrafitto decoration prominently signed; SEIRAN. The cobalt decoration sits on an almost ash style glaze with spots of blushed areas, similar to Hagi pottery. I have not been able to find out anything about the potter, but the brushwork and use of space suggests a full time potter, used to working in this particular style.
