This is the tiniest Babyland rag doll that I have ever seen or owned. She has a dear little face with two white smudges that were rosy at one time. She has on a wonderful early calico dress with red trim that is not original to her and may be a little earlier than she is but looks really good on her. This is a big blue/green heavy Amish doll, cotton and rag stuffed, solid doll with a "no no" face that I am sure came later. It is a naïve pencil or ink drawn face and has a nice look but her face was originally blank. Her body, head, and legs are all the same blue/green fabric but her arms are off white linen. They may or may not be original. Her dress is brown with a gray coverall apron and on her head is the traditional black bonnet. All the clothing is from the same era as she is 1890/1900...

Believe me I wouldn't consider bothering her. Take a look at those eyebrows, mercy, this is a doll you might exhibit by herself. That said, a few friends might help soften her around the edges. She is 26" tall with stockinette head and body, all original. She is as found with all her jewelry, white blouse, red plaid wool skirt with a lot of holes and a slip and petticoat. On her feet she has the best black and red socks, so great with her skirt...

This doll doesn't need any detective work to know that she is old and completely original. I think she has two other faces under this one but I would never take the risk of hating the other two faces and not being able to get this face back on. I often don't like to take socks off a doll. When you know by the looks that the socks have been on forever they never look the same when you take them off and put them back on. So perky and bright with big round eyes and a smile to melt the heart, they don't come like this often. She has embroidered features including her eyes but then to embellish them further they added a bead in the middles and curtain rod rings to make the eyes complete. She has red dots for a nose and a big embroidered mouth with white teeth the whole length. Her wool yarn hair is is artfully sewn to her head in a zigzag pattern. I love how her head is squared off at the top...

Great big striking black cloth doll with an embroidered face, sewn by a pro. She has expressive eyebrows, big eyes, no nose, (that is one way to deal with hard to do noses), and a happy smiling mouth. She has very soft lustrous real pelt fur hair. Her arms and legs are jointed, her body is big and rounded, her head moves but is stable and holds itself up, and the stuffing is medium firm...

Nice old black stockinette doll with the sweetest sad little face. She has a pinch raised nose very nice embroidered eyes and a dearest little turned down mouth. She has yarn hair that is a little thin. She has a very long body and short legs, a true little rag doll. She is 18" tall but looks and feels like a smaller doll.

Big, heavy rag stuffed cloth doll has big old hands with fingers and thumbs, a great old blue and tan striped ticking body and is just all American through and through. Her big wide open face has button eyes, a couple of stitches for a nose and a straight floss sewn mouth that goes up at the corners for a hint of a smile. I am bet she has had many dresses in her day, but this nice old white and blue calico dress fits her nicely...

Just when I think I have seen it all along comes something different. This doll has a bottle for a body that has the shape of a flask. The bottle and her arms are a heavy twill with the arms having lots of mends. She has sock legs and a sewn on bonnet and embroidered face. She has been through a lot but she is very dear. I have had bottle doll doorstops but never a doll with a bottle body! She is 16" tall and is a real hoot. Circa 1900

Very nice Beecher doll by a cottage industry in Elmira NY missionary group from 1893 to 1910. They followed a pattern but each doll is just a little different as the sewing was a group project.. This one has been recovered with black fabric over the original brown fabric. The brown fabric was not that sturdy and is often in fragile condition. She is wearing a red calico dress but probably not original. She is 20" tall

Painted face black cloth doll ready for cooking the main meal of the day. She has a painted face, a bandana covering her head, red calico dress, black undies, and sewn on black boots. Covering the dress is a great old apron that is as soft a butter. When I squeeze her legs and body, they are really quite firm and feel like the are a mixture of cotton and something crunchy. She is really a down home girl, with fine looks and lives on the straight and narrow path that her life has taken her...

Not all dolls have a time line built into them but this one says to me, she is 6 or 7 years old and is dressed for the first day of school. She has on a great dress that fits her perfectly. A very unusual and great topsy turvy doll with a watercolor painted face. She has blue eyes, a perfect little kewpie doll mouth, reddish hair and a flaunty hap framing her face. The black doll has a red bandana tied around her head, she has white eyes and mouth and a sensible yellow dress with a black checked apron. She is in good condition with just the back of her bonnet shredded a bit and there is age related staining. She is 14" end to end and is circa 1890-1910.

This is a very special black doll. She is 16" tall, is rag stuffed and heavy. She has woeful stitched face with small pearl button eyes. Her arms are jointed but her legs are not but she sits really easily. She is wearing an old red wool dress with lace at the bodice and trim around the neck and hem. She is sewn in but you can see she is wearing a fine knit onesie underneath. She has little recovered hands, someone cared enough to cover them. She has holes, the dress has holes, she is amazing. ...

This sweet little painted face black doll with big rosy cheeks. She is wearing a bandana dress that probably is original, it is hand sewn as is the doll. She is cotton stuffed has fancy gold cloth shoes and sewn on leggings. She is 10" tall, C. 1900-1910 and fits in your hand perfectly.

This darling stump doll dressed in a brown calico dress and a velvet mop hat is very put together, everything fits just right. Her stump is tied in the middle for a waist but she never had attached legs. Her body bends at the middle so she can sit and be held easily by a little hand. She is 14" to the bottom of her dress and is 11" to the bottom of her firmly stuffed stump. Circa 1900

How sweet and adorable is she! Red hair, red cheeks, body very firmly stuffed with cotton. Jointed shoulders, elbows, hips and knees so she sits easily. Her big eyes looking, slightly up, melt you the same way as when dog looks at you for a bite of your steak. The repair on her mouth looks like they put a band aid on and then took it off years later.
